Lottie was simply stunning in a full skirted dress of beige chiffon wilh a cummerbund at the waist and over her shoulders she proudly displayed a gorgeous Autumn haze mink stole! 'Tvvas a gift from Gene for their twentv-fil'th anniversary. She also wore a corsage of white carnations and tiny pink rosebuds. Those who gave the party were daughters and husband-- Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Slraumann and Dolores, both mothers-- Mrs. Mary Wasyleczka and Mis. Mary Piotrowski; Mrs. Anne Sklarski and children; Mrs. Genevieve Sulkowski and Rosemary; Mr. and Mrs. Jim R/onra; and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Pioirowski. About 150 people from Waukegan, Cicero. Chicago, Woodstock, MeHcnry and the village were fed such goodies as beef, chicken, polato salads, molded salads, assorted relishes, and other trimmings. "Piece de resistance" was the beautifully decorated four tiered anniversary cake. Everyone enjoyed dancing. Tee Bujack "belted" out a couple of numbers in her inimitable fashion. The assembled guests just howled as Dennis i Butch) Straumann age 'J1- led the grand rmrch. Iluppy things in store for Lottie and Gone because one "wag" attached a baby spoon to one of the gifts! The other Straumann youngsters, Sandy, Debbie, and Jeanette, were allowed to attend 1he soiree long enough to greet grandma and grandpa and to dine with the adults. Lottie and Gene left Monday morning for a two week trij) to Hot Springs, Ark., to rest up, no doubt! It was rumored around the village on Sunday, that many of our residents were nuisiii" large type "hangover.-."! Details For Square Dance Arc Made Most arrangements have been made for t ho " Cullom- Knoll square dance which will be held Saturday, July 17, beginning at 8 p.m. A professional caller will be on hand to arrange the sets and explain the maneuvers. Because the dancing becomes quite vigorous, parents are asked' to leave the small fry at home. The dance is for teen agers and adults! A refreshment stand will be provided featuring barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs, chips, cof fee and pop -- all for a nominal sum. This is being "manned" by Gail and Rich Johnson. Genial Frank Kurth is in charge of getting bartenders for the beer booth. Should be a wonderful evening with no admission charge and the public is invited. For those who have not and wish to pay dues, a table will be set up for your convenience. Mark the date in RED! Verbal Orchids To Elmer Thorp, Jim Frost, Jeff Levesque, and Jim Brown who did a marvelous job of cleaning up the ditch at the beach recently. They trimmed tree branches and raked the shore line again. Jim Brown -- a summer resident - - really proved he was a good neighbor by bringing some valuable and very useful tools with him, and USING them. All four are to be highly commended for their efforts. Booster Stickers For Little League Available Soon There is plenty of action in the local little league these days. Permission was granted to manager Hill Kaminski to fence in the benches at the field to avoid any accidents to the players. The boys are also hoping to make money for equipment by selling booster stickers. Twenty-nine eager little fellas were on hand for the registration and they are turning out for practice. They spent some time in Avon Park, Fla., for lots - of swimming and fishing in Lake Isis. They also stopped in Silver Springs where they viewed the splendors of the deep through glass boats. On the homeward their journey they Lookout Mouhtain in Tennessee and went through the caverns in Rock City, on the mountain. Lois exclaimed over the large population which chooses to live on the mountain. One mis-step and you're done! They also traversed the swinging bridge and gasped at the beauty of the waterfalls. They returned home Sunday and plan to rest up in their hideaway cottage on W. Parkview! Complete Two Weeks Summer Church School Vacation Bible school at Nativity Lutheran church. Wonder Lake, ended last. Friday evening with a program for the parents so the wee ones could display their accomplishments. Local lads 'n' lassies who attended were twins Laura and Larry, Linda, Colleen, and Ronnie Myers; Bruce, Roger, and Cheryl Thacker and Patty Murray. Attends Convention At U. of I. Miss Lynne Schultz and two others from Nativity Lutheran church were accompanied by the Rev. Thomas Johnson when they attended the Illinois State Luther League convention at the University of Illinois, Champaign, last weekend. The national convention will be held in Miami, Fla., late in August and Lynne and Bernice Bjork both plan to attend. Should be a wonderful experience for the two young ladies. Hospitalized In Evans ton Mrs. Marie Hagel was a patient in Evanston hospital recently for eight days. During this time she had X-rays and whirlpool baths to relieve an inflamed nerve in her leg. She has been recovering nicely, thanks to the tender ministrations of husband Tony. The "Welcome Mat" Is Spread For two families who have joinpd the ranks of permanent residents. Mr. and Mrs. William Gleeson who have owned their home on W. Par-kview for a year, have made it their permanent abode. Mr. Gleeson's mother and husband, Mr. and Mrs, Ray Fisher, who hail from Worth, 111., bought the former Robert Maloney home on Lake Shore Drive and are thoroughly enjoying country living. Both families joined the £ullom- Knoll Association and have volunteered their help for future, activities. The Gleesons also mads a substantial contribution to the little league fund. Nice neighbors, wouldn't you say? Former Resident Wins Top Spot Congratulations to Bobbie Carroll who was elected president of the American Legion auxiliary on June 21. She has been a faithful and dedicated member and should bring further distinction to the organization.
