Seems no matter how much we write there are still those who will not cooperate. Sprinklers are still being left on all night, hoses are used to fill swimming pools and to play with by. youngsters. While some jus>t won't try to help, others are having newly planted evergreens dying, flowers are also suffering the same fate as well as many vegetable gardens. It hardly seems fair that things must die while others use the water without a thought.' To all of you who have told us the places where you see water being wasted, please contact the Lakeland Park Water Co. at 815-459- 5500. We can only print articles on the subject, the water company can do something about it. Sprinkling is to be done by numbers, if you have an even number address you Inay water on the even dates from 6 p.m. til midnight, if you have an odd number you, may sprinkle on the odd dates, Such as 1, 3, 5, 7, and etc. It is hoped that everyone will abide by these requests. Little League We don't have too many of the scores because of having to write the paper on Friday but here is what we have. In the Majors, the Pirates beat the Braves 8 to 6 on Monday, June 28. On Tuesday, June 29, the Orioles and Pirates were rained out. On July 1, the Braves beat the Tigers 6 to 3. In the Minor league, on the 28th of June, the Pirates beat the Orioles 10 to 9. The game between the Braves and the Pirates was rained out on Tuesday, and on July 1 the Orioles swamped the Braves 15 to 4. The Braves team has two brothers that are the leagues only homerun hitters. Everyone wants to know from Arlene Bartos just what she's feeding her two sons, Mark and Greg. Mark hit his homerun first and put it over the left field fence. Not to be out done by his brother Greg put one out over center field fence in their next game. Your parents, teammates and fans are all proud of you. Sympathy The very deepest sympathy of the community is extended to the P'icken family. Mrs. Herbert Ficken lost her life in a very bad car accident last Wednesday evening. They are not residents of the Park but reside just beyond our subdivision and many of our residents have become friendly with the family. Rudy Ficken Who operates a business and lives in Lakeland Shores was her brother-in-law. Our very deepest condolences goes to the entire family and we pray that the rest of the family's injuries heal rapidly. Please We have been hearing about many cuts on youngsters. So far only a few have had to be sutured. It ^ems tfiat the lake has been Deing used as the place to throw bottles, cans and what have you. There are containers at the beaches for garbage and it is hoped they will be used instead of the lake, it's making our beaches unsafe. This also goes for the grounds at the community house. There were, broken beverage bottles picked up last week in the parking lot. This not only looks terrible but is also causing havoc with tires on veicles. Many many youngsters of all ages also play in the area and it is constant danger to them. One fall on broken bottles can cause months of pain so let's all use refuse containers instead of just throwing things wherever they happen to laricL Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated. Girl Scouts Day Camp A bus load of girls from our subdivision plus quite a few mothers spent a very full and exciting week at Valley View Day Camp last week. To see some of the things these girls make is very interesting such as the beautiful gold wall plaques made out of old records and sprayed gold. On Friday the parents were invited to attend a program put on by the girls. Community House Schedule All bookings as well as all cancellations for our community house must be made through Mrs. Jo Rizzo at 385- 2728. Before setting a date for the use of the community house, please be sure to check with Mrs. Rizzo to ascertain whether or not the community house is available on that date. Thursday, July 15, Regular board of directors meeting--8 p.m. If you have a matter of importance to bring up, before the board or have a complaint to be presented this is the place to do it. •New Arrivals Our subdivision added two new citizens during the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sadowski of 1811 N. Sunset added their second son to the family. Baby Michael made his arrival at McHenry hospital on June 25 at 1:27 p.m. and weighed in at 6 lbs., 1 oz. On June 29 at 9:30 a.m. little Sharri Hendricks made her arrival into the world weighing 7 lbs., 6 ozs. Sharri's mom and dad are Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Hendricks of 1606 Ramble Road qpd she has one sister and two brothers. To both families go our very best wishes. Special Days Our warmest and most sincere wishes for happy birthdays and anniversaries go to the following members of the community during the coming week. Charles Campo will acid his 11th candle to his cake on the 8th. Two young lads share the 9th as natal days, Terry Miller will be 2 and Tommy Gerambio will be 3. Greg Worm reaches Little League age of 8 on the 10th. Jim Bohl and Teresa Kroening share the 11th with Teresa becoming 10. On the 13 th, Rosemary and Art Tiffany celebrate another year of wedded bliss, I believe it's their 30th. July 14 Larry Glorch will be blowing out 10 candles and on the 15th, Beverly Hromec will be that active age of 3, sharing that date is Walter Jensky who becomes one year younger. To each arid everyone goes ojur best. Strolling Through The Park Mary, Jim and the Daurio boys had Mary's sister, Peggy, and her two children, Debbie and Butch, as their guests last Sunday. Butch stayed on for the week. Hope Mary will tell Peg "hello" for me when she comes back for her son. She's a real nice gal. Kitty, George, Johnnie and Marty Hendle had Charlotte and Sonny Kilman and their three children as house guests over the holiday. They hail from Schiller Park. Sorry the Hendles had to miss going camping with us tho'. The Lloyd Wagners were hosts for their very good friends, Marlene and Otto Albuschat, and Otto, Jr., on Sunday of last week. They call Villa Park home. On Wednesday, Gerry and her children went into Lombard to attend a small reunion of nine classmates of Gerry's. One of the girls had come from Florida for the affair, which Ger enjoyed very much. Cheryl Nuss celebrated her tenth birthday on June 30 with a Hawaiian birthday party. Christine Sweeney had a lawn party on the 22nd of June to celebrate her 9th birthday, which was the 26th of June. Cake, ice cream cones and candy were served to Peggy and Julie Guettler, Pam Radner, Peggy Moore, Teresa and Carole Funk, Kathy Jo Becker, Christine Bassi, Mary Humann, Darlene Gladman and Chris's sisters, Alicia and Colleen. Grace and . Chuck Campo and Chuckie and Kathy went in to Chicago to celebrate their nephew Jimy's first birthday. Kathy stayed on to visit with her other cousins, Chuckie and Billy, and keep her Aunt Babe and Uncle Chuck company. Get-well wishes go to Adam Zujewski who has. been a patient at McHenry hospital and we're sure he'd enjoy a card, call or visit from his friends and neighbors. We quite literally walked into many, many of our residents at the carnival in town but none semed happier than Jan Walker who was delighted with her young grandson Eddie's company. Tuesday of last week Rose and Ed Oswald went into Evanston to help their granddaughter, Joyce Geishecker, celebrate her 11th birthday. On - Thursday, Barb and Joe Herman were dinner guests at the Oswald home and the evening was spent playing their favorite card game, Canasta. On Sunday they went to the Herman home in Lake Marie to help with the celebration of Barb and Joe's forty-sixth year of togetherness. Bette, Bill, Danny, Ronnie and Cindy Kamp returned last Friday from a very eventful trip to Sarasota, Fla. Swimming was great, fishing, no luck, but they did enjoy see- Florida their home now. Many of the Lakeland Parkers have campoouts planned for the holiday but Ann and Frank Dawson said they planned on just loafing in the sun ajid watching the rest of us come home exhausted. Sue and Ron Funk, Mickey and Ed Gladman, Gayle and Bob Laursen and all three families have a long weekend campout / planned for Lake Winnebago, Wis. Dottie, Irv and the Becker children, Bette, Bil land the Kamp children, Kay, Ed and the two youngest Druml boys have one planned for Devil's Lake, Wis. As we have an early deadline we can only hope that the weather man proves he's a real good guy for all the campers. We know more went out and hope that they get their news to us before July 12 which is otir next deadline date. The female residents of the northwest part of the Park have been enjoying motorcycle rides given so gladly by one of their friend's husbands who has become a cycle owner. .They all love every minute of the rides. RINGWOOD NEWS DELORES BRENNAN 653-9045 Death Claims Local Resident On Tuesday, June 29, Lester Carr, a lifetime resident of Ringwood, passed away. Lester was taken to Memorial hospital for McHenry County in Woodstock early on Tuesday and lived only until 6:30 p.m. Surviving Lester are his \yidow. Flora, two sons, Charles of Harvard and Joe of Ringwood. Also t\yo brothers and one sister. Services were held from the Peter M. Justen Funeral home on Friday with burial ,in the Ringwood Cemetery. Deepest sympathy is extended to the family. It's A Boy The hovering big white bird dropped a blue bundle for the Jim O'Hallerans on Friday morning. Phyllis and Jim became proud parents for the fifth time when little James Darren entered their lives weighing 7 lbs., 3Vs> ozs. He was 20 inches long, and was born at Memorial hospital for McHenry County in Woodstock, at 9:15 a.m. He was greeted at home by two brothers, Dave and Tom, and two sisters, Pam and Christine.
