Two Page Two McCullqm Lake News RECOVER SPORTS CAR STOLEN FROM PARENTI DRIVEWAY The '65 model sports car owned by Lois and Don Parent! was stolen fi'om the driveway adjoining their home about 5 o'clock last Friday morning and recovered before midnight of the same day! The theft was discovered when Don \yas leaving for work. The Parentis never leave their vehicle in the driveway, but had planned to go out later in the evening so it was not "housed" for the night. They changed their plans, but did .iothing about the "wheels". According to reports from neighbors, a suspicious looking red one-half ton, pick-up truck was sighted in the village in the early hours of the morning, but no special importance was attached to the fact, until after the theft. • Don and Lois were just about ill over the loss because it was such a special car. Don had done a great deal of work on it with special grills, tires, etc. About 11 p.m., he received an anonymous phone call telling him where his car could be located. He followed the instructions given him and recovered his property in Lake Geneva. ' Needless to say, their joy knew no bounds. With this experience behind them, the Parentis caution all residents to LOCK all vehicles! Cullom-Knoll Election August 1 The Cullom-Knoll Association will hold its annual election of officers on Sunday, Aug. 1, at 3 p.m. i nthe beachhouse. Bid Accepted For Road Repairs About Aug. ld^is the date set for work to be started on much needed road repairs throughout our hamlet. Weingart Paving of McHenfy was awarded the contract at the last meeting of the president and trustees held Monday, July 19 in the beachhouse. Two other bids were received but were incomplete. The approval vote was unanimous by six trustees. Road commissioner Harry Lock will supervise all phases of the operation. Mr. Lock also reported that necessary street and speed signs will be installed as soon as possible. Dutch elm disease is still proving to be a headache and the offending foliage will be removed. A routine operating report of activity of the police department for the month of June was read by police commissioner Art Nelson. A motion was passed making it mandatory for all trustees to have copies of all the village ordinances. The next meeting will be held Monday, Aug. 2, at 8 p.m. in the beachhouse.
