Attending the bride were Mrs. Lorraine Loser as matron of honor, Miss Georgia Blake, Miss Kathy Brzezinski, Miss Candy Morganson, Miss Anita Kalfus and Miss Rae Chadwick as bridesmaids. Joseph Rabando served the groom as best man. Groomsmen were Frank Babnik, Jr., Kenneth Hansen, Robert Mathews, Steve Zupkus ancl Waynfe Wood. Young attendants were Karin Wade as flower girl and Michael Hirsch as ring bearer. Following a trip to the Smoky Mountains, the couple will reside at 628 Judge street, Waukegan. McHenry, was a pretty bride on Saturday. Ang. 28, when she exchanged nuptial vows with Mr. Thonias Joseph Kilroy, III. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer F. Antonson and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. 'Kilroy, II, of Chicago, summer residents' of McHenry. Rev. John Dording officiated/ a tyt/ie 11 o'clock nuptial rife. Miss Antdnson approached the altar, pretty in the wedding gown worn by her mother. It was styled with sweetheart neckline, full half-sleeves, and long train. A bouffant veil fell from a fresh flower stephanotis nosegay on her head. She carried stephanotis with ribbons and love knots (a part of the arrangement used by the mother of the groom at her wedding) and a white prayer book. Miss Muriel Frett, a close friend, acted as maid of honor and Miss Kathy A rend t of Lincolnwood and Miss Linda Frett of McHenry were bridesmaids. They were attired similarly in seafoam turquoise A-line, floor length gowns. Crests of small mums in gold and turquoise adorned their heads and they carried the same type of flowers. Dennis Kilroy served his brother as best man and groomsmen were Donald Antonson, brother of the bride, and Bruce Bohuslov of McHenry, a friend. Mrs. Antonson chose a green and white print chiffon with which she wore matching accessories. Mrs. Kilroy was attired in a sapphire green brocade dress. A reception for 200 guests followed the ceremony at the Country Squire in Grayslake. Following a short honeymoon, the couple will take up residence in an apartment at Devon and Glenwood, Chicago. The bride is a 1960 graduate of McHenry high, school and has been employed as a secretary at Tri-Wick Corp., Johnsburg. The groom is enrolled in the dental school at Loyola university. ROSS MACDONALD NAMED TO STAFF AT BALL STATE Ross Edward Macdonald, 3904 West Avenue. McHenry, is among the sixty-five members and twenty-two residence hall directors who have been named for the 1965-66 academic year at Ball State university. They will direct activities in the twenty-one halls and one floor of Maria Bingham leased by Ball State from Ball Memorial hospital. Appointments to student staff are made on the basis of scholarship and leadership and are made by President John R. Emens upon the recommendation of the student affairs deans. Dr. Merrill Reyerl is vice-president of student affairs. Macdonald, a junior, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman A. Macdonald. He will work in Whitecraft hall. He is majoring in business administration. MARILYNN HOLST Johnsburg; Man To Take Brule Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Hoist of 8301 Horton, Des- Moines, Iowa, announce the engagement of their daughter, Marilynn Joan, to Harold May, son of William May of 2207 W. Johnsburg road, McHenry. The bride-elect, a graduate of Culver-Stockton college, Canton, Mo., is employed by the Joliet public school system. Her fiance will be a senior at Culver-Stockton college and is affiliated with Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. A June wedding has been planned. Garden Club At Padgitt Home The McHenry Garden club held its last meeting Aug. 26 at the home of Mrs. Harold Padgitt at Pistakee Bay. A delicious dessert was served as members enjoyed the beautiful landscaping and flower beds of the Padgitt lawn. Miss Mary Burdahl, president, appointed Mrs. G. T. Snively chairman of the Plant, Flower and Fruit guild. Two new members were welcomed, Mrs. Herbert Rothering and Mrs. William Vees of Timothy lane. Presidents Council Day on Sept. 20 will be held at tHe Lake Shore club, Chicago, to <«vhich members are invited. The next meeting on Sept. 23 will be held at the home of Miss Mary Burdahl in Wilmette. Guests may be invited but the hostess should be notified of members' intentions by calling 312-251-2730. Luncheon will be served at noon. A garden wedding party held recently at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. Betts. Jr.. of Crystal Lake; honored Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Ross Feri. Mrs. Feri is the former Nancy J. Betts. He*' maternal grandmother is Mrs. Gertrude Loechel of McCullom Lake, •who was especially proud and happy when her granddaughter modelled her bridal gown at the party. STILLING-HOWARD NUPTIAL RITE IN ST. JOHN CHURCH St. John the Baptist church in Johnsburg was the setting for a beautiful wedding when Miss Virginia Stilling changed her name to Mrs. Terence Howard in a ceremony which took place at 3 o'clock last Saturday afternoon, Aug. 28. The bride is the daughter of Charles Stilling of 2106 N. Chapel Hill road, McHenry, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Howard of 3715 W. John street, also McHenry. Rev. Fr. John Dording officiated, at the nuptial rite. The pretty bride selected a gown of peau de soie trimmed with appliques of reembroidered alencon lace, featuring a detachable train. It was styled with fitted bodice, scoop neckline and long pointed sleeves. The set-in midriff had appliques on the bodice, and the sheath skirt was styled with long, flowing streamers. A full sweeping, chapel train fell gracefully from the waistline. For her headpiece. Miss Stilling chose a cluster of buds and leaves which held her bouffant illusion veiling. Homemakers Postpone September Meeting The meeting of the McHenry Homemakers unit originally scheduled for Sept. 7 at the home of Jerry Weidemann, 7515 Barnard Mill road, Ringwood, has been postponed until Sept. 14 due to the fact that many members have children scheduled to return to school on the seventh. All members are urged to attend this important meeting. BAND TO "ROCK" GYM AT BENEFIT SOCK HOP SEPT. 7 A local young band will "rock" the high school gym on Tuesday, Sept. 7, when the McHenry High School P.T.A. will sponsor a "Sock Hop" for returning students. The four piece combo has appeared at several teen night spots in the area. They have also played for private'parties, the Fiesta Day street dance, and for the senior dinner dance this spring. Their fans describe them as a "swingin' group". Proceeds from the dance will be used to swell the scholarship loan fund available to a deserving McHenry high Graduate, on application. Knlargement of the fund will be the major project of the P.T.A. this school year. Mrs. Howard Weiss, president, announced that shorts 01* slacks for young ladies are taboo; skirts will be the order of the day.
