They attended the wake on Sunday. Strolling Through the Park The biggest event of the week in anyone's book has to be the arrival home of Buddy Druml after a years service in Viet Nam. Ed and Kay got a call on Wednesday from New Mexico where Buddy was waiting for transport to O'Hare. He arrived at 12:35 a.m. Friday with a whole contingent of Drumls to greet him. Friday was the day for a belated Christmas celebration complete with tree and other decorations and gifts. They are busily engaged in catching up on a year's worth of chatter. The infant daughter of David and Donna Druml was baptized Doneen Marie in a ceremony at St. John the Baptist church in Johnsburg on Sunday. Her godparents are Sherry Nellis Bell and her uncle Edward M. Druml, Jr. After the service a party was held at the home of her paternal grandparents, Ed and Kay Druml. It will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. sharp. Mayor Doherty and members of the City Council will be present to meet and greet the residents /and will conduct a question and answer period. Dogs After deceiving several more complaints about loose dogs causing disturbances, I called the McHenry police department to inquire about the procedure for taking care of this problem. They informed me . that whenever something happens involving a dog, the people are to call the police to report it immediately and that they will dispatch a squad car to pick up the offending animal and locate the owner. There is a fine involved with loose dogs. The phone number of the police department is 385-2131. Little League The Little League meeting will be held tonight, Wednesday, at 8 p.m. at the community house. Bill Jaenicke is in charge of the tickets for the roller skating party to be held on Feb. 15. Any managers who don't have their tickets can get them through Bill. Tickets are being sold by all of the managers. Girl Scout Troop 820 We started our meeting with the flag ceremony. We .talked about coming events. The troop was not registered for the Come See, Junior program so we will not attend as a group. Anyone can go by themselves to see what other troops have been doing. Donna Humann showed us 1 badge sash that belonged to Mrs. Patterson when she was a Girl Scout. It was completed down the front and half way up the back. There was also a book that showed what she did for different badges. We closed our meeting with the flag ceremony and singing of taps. The kids also decorated cloth bags with liquid embroidery to carry home their finished product. Rob's birthday was Jan. 4 and Wendy will have hers on the third of February. With so many relatives, two family parties were held for Mike with his mom's folks coming one Sunday and his dad's the next. His grandma Marie Leirvaag, and aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Eichelman were there. Also Bob and Ginny Eichelman, and their four kids and Jean and John Fougerousse and their five. The following week brought Sally and Duke Burmann, and Angie and Robbie and Chuck and Delores Burmann, and David, Diana and Cheryl- Anyone want cake? Clyde Bassler was surprised on his birthday by the Eckharts and Evanses on Saturday night. Instead of a birthday cake the lucky birthday boy put his candles on a homemade butterscotch pie. MMMM. Ron and Barb Meurer celebrated their fourteenth wedding anniversary last Saturday with the Osmans and Georges. The six of them had reservations at a steak house in Crystal Lake and they had a marvelous meal, probably also gained a few pounds apiece from the sounds of thq menu. After dinner they returned to the Meurers and were joined by Bob and Jessie Matthews and ended the evening with cards. Tina Licastro celebrated her seventh birthday last week on Thursday. She entertained Karen Kawa, Debbie and Karen Stupey, Renee Nichols, Doreen Parenti and Susan Kane of McCullom Lake, Cindy Kamp, Judy Slonina, Kimberly Martin, Michelle Fish and her sisters, Terry and Darlene. They also visited Marineland and the Keys. Grandma Laursen and Grandma Thorsen took care of the household in their absence and operated in shifts. Art and Gladys Hafer attended a wedding reception Saturday for Art's nephew, Allan Keisler of Elgin. The bride was the former Cathy O'Connell of Streaniw 0 od. Saturday was also Art and Gladys' wedding anniversary and they were toasted by the assembly and had pictures taken with the bride and groom. J0n Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Herman Patz of Wheaton were their guests for dinner. Mrs. Patz presented them with a huge lemon cake in honor of their anniversary. Our belated congratulations to the Hafers on their anniversary. The Arients were surprised when one of the featured items in the Sunday news was a fire at the plant where John is employed. The place was damaged pretty heavily and they are engaged in clean up and salvage operations right now. This is probably old news by now, but better late than never! Glenn and Terry Hartmann who rented a home on Shore Drive have purchased the Hirschberg home on Bonner Drive where they have resided for about a month n o w . T h e H a r t m a n n s h a v e two children, Jill, 2 % and Mark who is 7 months. Anyway, we can welcome them as permanent residents now. Good luck in your new home. Lloyd and Gerry Wagner went out for dinner on Saturday night followed by an evening of bowling. Ray Cynowa expected to spend a quiet evening at the old homestead after the kiddies were tucked into their beds. Carol had other plans though and a big group of celebrants gathered at the front door to pay homage to the birthday boy. Surprise! The foolers were Ginny and George Farrell, Shirley and Max Koch, John and Maureen Johnson, Bill and Delia Dralle, Judy Yearton, and Mr. and Mrs. Cynowa and Mr. and Mrs. Gartze. They kept their spirits up with champagne punch and barbecue and a big birthday cake marked with the number of -years the birthday boy has chalked up! Hope they had a fire permit! Rose and Ed Oswald entertained Ed and Kay Druml and Dennis, Kevin and Bud on Saturday evening. After dinner they had gifts under the Christmas tree for Buddy who is really cleaning up on this late Christmas deal. Made them very happy to see their grandson after so long. Jim Daurio conducted his first meeting after being elected as president of his unibn. The meeting was held last Wednesday at the Daurio b home. They attended a wedding reception in Chicago on Saturday for Jim's cousin. They caught up on all the family news and visited with relatives they hadn't seen for years. Bev. Wickenkamp received news over the weekend of a fire at her sister's home in Minnesota. Her sister and one of the children were in the yard when she noticed smoke coming from the roof. A two year old was napping in the house and they were able to get Mr out through a window. A nearby workman gave the child artificial respiration and she was in good condition after inhaling a lot of smoke. Besides s t i tches from glass cuts on her sister's arm no other injuries were reported. Ann Herzog was hostess for the tripoli session last week. Delia Julian, Edna Hountras, Ivy Lezak, Louise McEnery and Ann played the game, while Stan Lezak, Jim McEnery, and Tom Hountras, who came for the good food, had a good gab session. Ruth McMahon, who hats been hospitalized for over five weeks, was released and able to come home on Saturday. She will be convalescing at home for a while but at least she is home. A birthday celebration was held for Orlo McMahon on Sunday at the Herzog home. The guests were Lu and Jim McEnery, Helen and Gene Kraskiewicz and son, Mike, Delia Julian and the party givers, Ivy and Stan Lezak and Ann Herzog. A sumptuous dinner was served followed by cards all over the house. One game was going in the kitchen and another in the living room. The birthday boy was presented with a rack for his fishing rods and a fisherman's lantern.
