Lififitraor, Modina Plant f.lanagar McHanry Plant, Modina Manufacturing Company Modine's plant in Mc- Henry County has become the center of the company's expanding all-aluminum heat-exchanger production. Built in 1960, op Ringwood Road, the original facility was devoted mainly to the production of condensers for passenger car air-conditioning systems. Major expansions to the plant in 1962, 1964, and again in 1966, have tripled the original size of the manufacturing area. Today, only six years later, more than 300 men and women are engaged in building condensers and evaporators for automotive, residential and commercial air-conditioning and commercial refrigeration systems and equiprftent. Also produced here are air coolers for aircraft, trucks, tractors, and air compressors. Thanks to the efforts of the men and women of McHenry County, this plant has made significant contributions to Modine's growth. Continued high demand for lightweight, more compact, and highly efficient all-aluminum heat „ exchangers offers even greater growth opportunities for Modine, its employees, and McHenry County. McHenry Plant: Annual Payroll, $1,300,000 State and Local Taxes, $34,000 When we started in business 50 years ago we were specialist^. We built a unique, highly efficient radiator that kept farm tractors from boiling oyer . . . big, husky radiators to cool cannon-haulers as they ground through the mud of Flanders . . . and millions of radiators that stopped Model T Fords from blowing off steam. The Modine factory was a good place to work, and we were dedicated to making a good product. Today, we're helping rockets reach for the moon. Our Specialty: heat transfer We still build radiators. In fact, Modine has grown into the world's largest independent radiator builder. Your car may be equipped with a Modine. But today, you'll find us probing deeply into new fields. We specialize in the business of heat transfer--essentially, taking heat from, or adding it to, something. Task: keep equipment cool and efficient You'll find the Modine nameplate in places you never expected to meet it--on condensers inside the air conditioners that may cool both your home and car--and on special devices that take the heat out of sensitive electronic equipment. Modine heat exchangers fly with the world's largest airliners, help giant earthmovers build our highways and cool heat-generating control ^sterns which launch and guide missiles into outer space. Task: make people comfortable You'll also find our nameplate in other places-- where human comfort is important. We build efficient equipment to heat, cool, ventilate and dehumidify--equipment to make life better and more comfortable in factories, schools, offices, stores, and churches. Modine-heated greenhouses grow bigger and better vegetable and flower crops for yotir-winter-long enjoyment. Years have brought changes for Modine--new products, new markets, new horizons. But they haven't changed the basic idea. We're still in heat transfer business--only deeper in it. We're still a pretty good place to work--only bigger, with even more opportunity. We're still dedicated to building a better product--maybe even more so. We're still Modine. The next 50 years should be just as challenging, just as stimulating, just as fulfilling as our first 50. Perhaps, by the year 2016 Modine products will be on the way to another galaxy. AA MODIN MODINE MANUFACTURING COMPANY, RACINE.
