This is the last call, if you don't attend the meeting, your information will be incomplete or hearsay. COMMUNITY HOUSE . SCHEDULE Bookings and cancellations for the Community House must be made through Mrs. Jo Rizzo by calling 385-2728. Wednesday, Feb. 22 - LPPOA General Meeting, 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27 - Lakeland Park 4-H Club, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28 - Boy Scouts, 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 1 - Girl Scouts 6:30 to 8p.m. Little League Open Meeting, 8 p.m. Thursday, March 2 - Women's Club, 8:30. BOY SCOUT TROOP 459 Troop 459 is having a board of review Feb. 28. Although there are only two boys that have passed everything on their cards, more boys are getting there. If a boy does not make it this trip, he must wait another month. There was a green bar meeting held at our scoutmaster's house on Thursday Feb. 16. At this meeting there were three patrol leaders and one assistant out of four patrols. The patrol leaders present were DOT Prazak, Gary Braun and Clark Bierman. The assistant was Alan Meurer. We talked about future activities of the troop and also things to be stressed in the patrol meetings. GIRL SCOUT TROOP 320 At the meeting last week Alicia and Mary Therese Sweeney came and helped the girls with the toymaker badge. They finished one requirement and will have a special meeting soon to work on the .».C other requirements. The girls •£ have been asked to bring scis- ijjj sors, needle and thread, pen :§ or pencil and three toys. The ijjj date will be announced before :•!: the meeting. The next regular meeting will be a Court of jij: Awards and the girls will re- jg ceive the badges that they have ;'v earned. BROWNIE TROOP 464 jij: The Brownies had a valentine party at their last meet- i|:| ing. They made valentines for :£ their parents and were served :j:j refreshments. Ice cream was Kj served and Angie Harper was the hostess for the day. She ijj: brought cupcakes and kool- jij: aid. :£ & LITTLE LEAGUE $ An open meeting of the Lake- gi land Park Boys Baseball League will be held on Wednesday, -jij March 1, at 8 p.m. at the Community House. All inter- if ested men are asked to at- ig tend this meeting as the ground- $• work for the coming season S must be started. The coys «u« badly in need of men to hefe coach the teams, as well as managers. Without these key men no teams can operate at all. With the hoped for coming of spring, the field will need a lot of elbow grease to get it back1 into playing condition. This is perfect exercise for those winter weary muscles. The boys are eager and only need to be helped by their fathers and other interested sportsmen. The open registration will be held on March 8 for all boys who want to play ball this year. They must be accompanied by a parent. BOWLING STANDINGS The Lakeland Park Couples Bowling League standings as of Feb. "18 are as follows. The first place team is the Jammers with 12-4 followed by a two-way tie for second between theWinos and the Ramskells with 11-5. The Warriors are next with 10-6 followed by another tie between the notorious Saints and Sinners with 8-8. (There must be a moral there somewhere!) The Dreps and Jawbreakers are next with 7-9 and the Short Circuits, the Bombers and the Famous 4 all have 6-10. Down in the cellar all by their lonesome are the 4-Pins with 4-12. Lee Mai rolled the high series with a super diq>er 623 scratch beating out Ted Kaminski's long standing 610. Those alleys were really smoking. The next bowling night is March 4. BIRTHDAY WISHES to Debbie Leigh, Bill Humphries, Lloyd Wagner and David George all of whom share Feb. 24 as their birthday. Dave is the only one who's telling and he will be that all important 13 years old: Gary Hanson will have eleven candles on his cake on Feb. 25. The twenty-sixth belongs to Ivy Lezak who claims to be a voter. Chuck Jumper will be 15 years old on Feb. 27 and Craig Shaedel will be a big five' on that day. Connie Parisi will also open her birthday presents on Feb. 27. Joe Sullivan will be vears old on Feb. 28 and Ruth Roach is or isn't having a birthday on the little day that isn't there that shy old Feb. 29. ANNIVERSARY WALTZ will be played in honor of Emma and Max Doering who mark twenty-nine years on the marriage-go-round on Feb. 26. Carmon and Virginia Hodges celebrate their twenty-sixth year of togetherness on March 2. Best wishes to .the four of you. STROLLING THROUGH THE PARK The weather man reported that tulips had been sighted in the Chicagoland area and we're keeping an eye out for that occurence in our own back yard. Only 27 days left till the official . first day of spring. Hopefully Spring will keep her eye on the calendar too. Such dreamers! Rickie Bierman celebrated his fifth birthday on Feb. 11 with the help of a bunch of his favorite pals. Imbibing in the| cake and ice cream wereStevie Wickenkamp, Scott Kuhns, Mark Lawrence, Mike Felmeten, Mattie Rogers, Jim and Michael Connor and his little cousin, Joey Leopold. Mike Burmann wasn't able to come due to aprevious engagement with the mumps. They played all those games that are traditional for a party for 4 and 5 year olds. The Berry family had a belated Christmas last Saturday at aunt Lucy's house in Highland Park. The original Christmas was interrupted by the birth of little Laurie on Dec. 23. The only thing missing was the tree and carol singing. Laura Celeste Perry was baptized on Sunday, Feb. 19, by Reverend Mclntyre at Faith Presbyterian church. She wore a long baptismal dress of white trimmed with lace, with a matching jacket and bonnet given to her by aunt Betty Perry. She was accompanied by her parents, Bill and Julie, and big brother, Billy, as well as Grandma Perry and aunt Betty and aunt Lucy Skehans. All the sports attended the sports show in Chicago last week. Among them were Lloyd Wagner and Del Burns who were there on Monday, Don Hiimann who attended on Saturday evening, and last but far from least, Sunday brought out the Druml family and the Daurio family. They opened the doors in the morning and closed them in the evening. Oh their achin' feet. Get-well wishes to Mr. Peters who is recovering from surgery. Hope you're back in the swing real quick. Our deepest sympathy is extended to the Abbinante family on the death of Lena's sister, Mrs. William Hackler, who passed away during the past weekend. The Hutt family journeyed into Chicago on Sunday to help Shirley's mom Mrs. Dvornik celebrate her birthday.. The big event of the day was watching the crews who were busily; removing snow from the street which was still clogged, The Hutts were amazed at -the tremendous amounts of snow that are still choking the city. The Rizzos also went a-visiting on Sunday when they visited Grandma Rizzo in her new home in Wooddale. They also had a visit with Riz's niece Marguerite who is enroute from Virginia to Hawaii where she is attending a wedding and will be staying for quite a while. Sounds warm and sunny. Bijou Prazak is back home after her tonsillectomy and beginning to feel up to par again. Rose and Ed Oswald took their turn visiting the Hermans at Lake Marie where they were royally treated to a pheasant dinner. The dessert course was a good card game and the girls wallcped the boys. , STORK-GRAM A beautiful baby girl was born to Lecil and Kathy Capps on Monday, Feb. 13 at Mc- Henry hospital. The little charmer, named Lisa Marie, weighed 8 lb. 2 oz. and was 20 and 3/4 inches long at birth. Her doting graixfearents are John and Gloria Flannigan and Mr. and Mrs. Garland Capps of Chicago. This is the first grandchild and great-grandchild on her maternal side of the family and everyone was thrilled with the little lass. GET-WELL WISHES to Ruth McMahon who is back in the hospital, but this time is at Memorial hospital in Woodstock. Rose Oswald has been under the weather and is waiting for test results to pinpoint the problem. Gene KrasRiewicz received second and third degree burns from an explosion at work last week. He was lucky enough, if that is the word, to avoid more serious burns through quick thinking on his part. He was able to remove most of the burning material immediately. Best wishes on getting better quickly. Patti Laursen has had her turn with the mumps during the last week. Don't say pickle! Diane Lauer has been in the McHenry hospital for more than her share of the time. Hope that she'll be home with her family real quick. Todd Stoltz has been hospitalizecTat Memorial hospital in Woodstock for over two weeks with pneumonia. He should be back home by now, we hope. Gerry Wagner's mom, Mrs. Harbaugh, has had surgery last week and is at Elmhurst hospital. This list was too long but get-well wishes to all and hope they are all better soon. Some of the folks I talked to are getting mighty disgusted with this problerii and are threatirjg assorts of horrible things, so please keep your pet in your own back yard or better still take it for a walk. There are plenty of prairies around that could be used for comfort stations. NATAL DAYS Happy birthday wishes to Alice Simbourger and Paul Tiggermann on Feb. 24, Paul will be 13r.Sliirley Lame rand, Cathy Musielak, Tom Henshall and Wayne Camasta on Feb. 26 and Ronald Verstege on March 1. BIRTHDAY PARTIES On Feb. 15 Craig Mieritz invited a group of his friends to his party which started after school and all stayed on for dinner. The boys were Paul Pogor, Timothy Wetzel, Billy Pinkonsly, Thomas Thompson, Chuck Whitney, Kurt Pogor and sister, Vicki. Cake and ice cream topped off the celebration. ~ Scott Houghton was 5 on Friday and Chuck Whitney, Billy and Bonnie Pinkonsly, Dawn Whitney and David and Danny Hinspater enjoyed supper and played games. Brian Calvert was 6 on Saturday and entertained Beth and Lee Lexow, Susan and David Evrald, Debby ViUm and Jeff-„ erv Musielak. NEWS ITEMS A1 Roberta, Vicki and Craig Mieritz had a family party to honor Craig's birthday on Feb. 11, and all took in a movie at the Cinema in Mount Prospect and then came home and had a birthday dinner with the traditional cake and ice cream. One Sunday Evie Tamer and Julie Zeimet were treated to a smorgasbord supper in Burlington, Wise., compliments of their husbands as a Valentine present. SICK LIST Bill Corcoran is back home after his sta£ in the hospital and is taking it easy. His sister, Mrs. Mae Mangam, from New York has come in to assist Ing in caring for Bill and will remain here for some time. The three Musielak children have been passing the chicken pox down to each other, Jeff, Cathy and new baby, Sandy, who is just 9 months old is recovering from them. Bernice has been seeing spots before her eyes for a few0 weeks.
