But some people have hair problems that prevent, them from looking their •best. , While we don't pretend to have the answers to all hair problems, here are some practical tips for treating the more common ones. OILY HAIR - A result of overactive oil glands, this particular problem is moist effectively treated by frequent shampooing, even daily if necessary. Using a special shampoo for oily hair, shampoo and rinse your' hair twice each session. Before the second rinse, however allow the shampoo to remain on for at least Ave minutes to remove the oil. And remember -- ifs easier to manage oily hair when it's kept short. DRY, DULL HAIR -- While some people have naturally dry hair, others acquire it through too-fre(quent shampooing or bleaching. If you have dry hair, you'll find that a daily scalp massage -- followed by a gentle brushing with a natural bristle brush -- is the most effective treatment as it stimulates the oil glands. In addition, wash your hair about twice a week with a mild shampoo and rinse in lukewarm water. After-shampdb conditioners and betweenshampoo hairgrooming preparations will make hair smoother less "fly-away." Exposure to the sun and swimming in chlorinated water can make dry hair an even greater problem in the summer. To protect your hair, wear a hat -- or some type of head covering -- when you're going to be in the sun a long time, and always rinse or shampoo your hair after swimming in chlorinated water. DANDRUFF --While no on© really knows what causes dan?* druff, simple dandruff can usually be controlled with a medicated, anti-dandruff sham-, poo. Since too much shampooing can aggravate this condition, wash your hair no more thaii twice a week and rinse thorioughly. Don't expect an overnight change; allow several weeks for improvement.
