Court street, McHenry, was married to Mr. Walter Eugene CP Neil, son of Mrs. Charlotte O'Neil of Crystal Lake, in a candlelight ceremony solemnized at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, in the Community Methodist church. 'im-y '+: Hold Benefit For Retarded The Woodstock Moose lodge at 406 Clay street, Woodstock, will b£ the location for a benefit evening Saturday, May 6, to aid the McHenry County Association for Retarded Children. Joseph Botts, chairman, announces that all proceeds from 6 p.m. to the closing hour will go to the Work-Activities center which operates at the former Terra Cotta school, 4611 Edgewood road. The women of the Moose will serve a smorgasbord dinner from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for a, small charge. Prizes can be viewed along with auction items in the lounge, all donated by generous business people throughout McHenry county. Bartenders from local clubs offer their service as their donation for the evening which will close with dancing. Everyone is invited to the Moose lodge on Saturday, May 6. GARDEN CLUB WILL DONATE TO HOSPITAL The April meeting was held at the home of Mrs. William Voss, where Mrs. John Korner was welcomed back into membership. At the next meeting everyone is asked to donate flower seeds to be donated to Hines Veterans hospital. This is an annual project of the club. The Richmond Garden club contacted McHenry regarding supplying artificial flower arrangements for the eight tables in the coffee shop at McHenry hospital. They will do the tables in the self-care unit. The arrangements will be changed monthly in both areas. Chi April 18 many members attended the special program covering all phases of gardening at the County Extension bureau in Woodstock. The next meeting wil 1 be at the home of Mrs. Henry McMahon, 3704 West Young street, on May 17. She will show slides of gardens in Japan and other parts of the U.S. The club will also have its intra-club plant sale in her garage. "YMCA JUNIOR HIGH DANCE SET FRIDAY, MAY 5 On Friday, May 5, the last t>ake Region YMCA Junior high -School dance of the 1966-67 - school year will be held at the Xakewood village hall. The -doors will open at 7:10 p.m. Dancing will begin at 7:30 p.m. and conclude at 10 p.m. A band contest is planned "between each of the bands that have played during the past year at any of the junior high dances. Any band interested in entering the contest should advance arrangements by calling 459-4455. Eight adults will be on hand to supervise the dance. Refreshments will be served to any Junior high student living in Algonquin, Cary, Crystal Lake, Shower Honors Nancy Dowell A bridal shower for Miss Nancy Dowell was given Sunday, April 30, at the home of Mrs. Susan Dowell in Capron. Hostesses were Mrs. Grace Glos, Jr., Mrs. Estella Cook and Mrs. Alma Passfield. Twenty-four guests were present to enjoy the party. A reception far invited guests was held at :$he McHenry Country club. ^ The couple resided in Lakemoor and operated a grocery store from 1951 to 1957, after which they retired and moved to Sunnyside. Joseph and Clara Cammarata were married April 30, 1917, in Pittsburgh, Has., and moved to Chicago in 1926. They .have been residents of this community since 1951. f The Cammaratas have seven children, Phillip of Chicago, ^Catherine Scrimenti of Northbrook, Josephine Verga of Volo, "Mary Nosal of Palatine, Jennie Gunther of Worth, Judith of Palatine and Lawrence at home; also twenty-two grandchildren. County Honor Studonts ^ >>• Harrison PTA Will Present Spring Concert Next Tuesday The culmination of a year's hard work by the chorus and. band of the Harrison school in' Wonder Lake will be their annual spring concert at the final PTA meeting of the year, on Tuesday, May 9, at 8 p.m. in the gymnasium. As usual, good seats will be at a premium due to the enthusiastic response by the parents*, so everyone is urged to come early. Mr. Wightman has charge of the band, and Mr. Wenck leads the chorus. Both have worked hard all year to present this show. As an added attraction, the following' seventh and eighth graders will give organ and/or piano solos; Leanne Brabenec, Lorrie De Werdt, Michele Dusthimer, Cheryl Elbersen, Pam Nitz and Karen Pickrum. INSTALL OFFICERS A short business meeting will precede the program, with Mrs. Isabelle Swan son, Harrison's very first PTA president, handling the installation of new PTA officers for the coming year. These are president, Gloria Coughlin; vice-president, Peggy Mondek; secretary, CeilDe- Werdt; and treasurer, Phyllis Schuster. Hie annual PTA life member- Honor Couple At Anniversary Party Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Harris were pleasantly surprised recently by former neighbors and relatives who called at their new home for a housewarming and thirty-fifth wedding anniversary party. Hostesses were Mrs. Harry Dowell, Mrs. Alvin Dowell, Mrs. William Harris and Mrs. Alma Passfield. Guests presented the couple with gifts and money. TTiose attending were from Aurora, Dundee, Woodstock, Wauconda, Richmond, Solon Mills, McHenry and also Fort Atkinson and Lake Geneva, Wis. MARY LARKIN Mr. and Mrs. James Larkin of 3408 W. First avenue, McHenry, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary, to Michael Major, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Major of 1918 W. Indian Ridge, Sunnyside Estates. Miss Larkin is a 1966 graduate of Marian Central high school and is a student nurse at St. Therese hospital in Waukegan. Her fiance isal965graduate of McHenry high school and is now serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Eustis, Va. No date has been set for the wedding. PLAN THEATRE PROGRAM n The Woodstock Fine Arte association has exciting plans for the summer young people's theatrical program at the Woodstock Opera House, and a special invitation is extended to any interested county student or adult to attend an opening meeting Sunday, April 30 at 3 p.m. in the Opera House. At that time, Robert Keil, Jr., Donald Barden, directors of the summer program, will explain the proposed plan which includes classroom instruction in all phases of the theatre and active participation in all phases of the dramatic productions which have been scheduled. The annual lost and found clean-up day is scheduled for May 9, and parents may retrieve their children's lost articles on PTA night. They will be on display in the lunch room. Anything left after that day will be sent to Good Will Industries. Robert Hauser, PTA Safety chairman, will give a briet report on the Boat Safety program his sixth grade class will present the school on May 25 and 26. Sixth grade room mothers will serve refreshments in the lunch room during the social hour following the program. DESIGN STUDENT IN MEXICO FOR STUDY PROJECT Junior class students majoring in design at Southern Illinois university left May 1 for a month-long work and study project in Mexico. The trip is designed to acquaint students with a culture different from that of the U.S. and to develop a work project beneficial to residents of the community being visited. The project was incorporated last year as part of the junior year curriculum in design at SIU. Then, the class visited Haiti to study housing problems in an underdeveloped village. The class* skills and interests are listed as communications, equipment design, community development and architecture. Students who will make the trip include Vernon Kramer, 3305 W. Elm street. These four Northern Illinois university students were among 119 who achieved all "A" grade averages first semester. The scholars were honored at a special dinner at NIU, DeKalb.
