The first of two judging sessions was held at Wc The next and final meeting' the judges takes place before the grandstand audience at the McHenry County Fair oa Thursday night, Aug. 3. At that time, the eleven candidates will appear in formals and- swim suits in this beauty contest, and the winner will earn the right to represent McHenry county in the Miss Illinois County Fair contest in January,1968. Wearing the crown now *s Noreen Sanders, a bright and pretty 19-year-old from Richmond. Noreen will crown her successor after the judges have performed their final evaluation. The jtidges are George Menard, WBBM-TV farm director; Joe Baisch, WREX-TV executive vice-president ami general manager; Dave Petrina, assistant state editor of the Beloit Daily News; and Irene Degan, continuity director, WKRS, Waukegan. EXPECT BIG CROWD Orion Samuelson, WGN-TV farm director, will be master of ceremonies far the finals at the county fair. This event is the opening night feature attraction and has drawn an overflow crowd to the grand- Parents Without Partners To Hear Police Detective The monthly meeting of Parents Without Partners, Chapter 189, mil be held cm Thursday, July 20, at 8:30 p.m. in the Rumsey building, Rt. 176, "Crystal Lake. OTHER FAIR PLANS Don Hansen, president of the McHenry County Fair association who represented the fair board at the dinner, said plans for this year's fair indicate a large livestock show, an in* crease in exhibits by the young people of the county, a^d exhibits by commercial interests comparable with previous years. Attendance the past few years has been on a steady increase with more than 40,000 persona attending this four-day event last year. The fair opens Aug. Wonderview Unit Holds Rummage Sale Saturday The Wonderview woman's auxiliary has been working so that there will be clean clothing for the rummage sale on Saturday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to 6 pjn. at the association house, 2618 Walnut drive, in Wonderview subdivision, Wonder Lake. It was held Sunday, July 16. Guests were registered from Chicago, Elgin, Huntley, Cary, Stone Park, Harvard, Cary, McHenry, Crystal Lake, Woodstock, Inverness, Wonder Lake, Algonquin and Marengo. Guests bringing heirlooms were called up to the microphone to describe and show them. Mrs. Louise Mortenson of Crystal Lake showed a beautifully made jei beaded jacket Worn by her mother about seventy- five or eighty years ago; a brass candlestick holder and trimmer and snuffer brought to this country in 1840 was displayed by Mrs. Claude Miller, Crystal Lake; a varied colored mat, of long wool threads made by the grandmother of Everett Thomas, along with her picture, were shown. Hubert Evans of Woodstock held up a wood strut of an early biplane that was wrecked in the vicinity of Woodstock back in 1910. The Lowell Nyes of Harvard had brought silver pieces from both sides of the family consisting of a baby porridge bowl and server, napkin ring, cuff link holder and tooth pick holder. Mrs. Lottie Murphy Brauer of Stone Park showed an oil painting of the home of her grandparents along with their photos. The society had on exhibit the map of 1862, the 1885 history and the 1903 and 1922 histories of the county and many were seen looking them over. The program was the presentation of the history of the American Terra Cotta company of Crystal Lake. A paper was read by Miss Mary Polerecky, Wonder Lake, telling of the early days in the making of the famous Teco ware and examples of their well known green glaze were on display as the paper was read. These were from the collection of Miss Lura Wandrack of Woodstock and the Arthur Jenners of Crystal Lake. Lowell Nye, editor in chief of the Sesquicentennial project, asked for the cooperation of those present. Preprinting orders were taken for the projected history. Mrs. Dorothy McEachren of Bull Valley made announcement of the society's forthcoming projects, dedication of the log cabin on Aug. 3 at the fair grounds and marking the' site of the first white settler, Sam Gillilan, at Algonquin. A sophomore, Miss Vinsik is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Vinsik of McHenry. She will serve as a counselor to new students who reside in Main hall. Holy Name To Hold Outdoor Meeting Monday The Holy Name society of St. Patrick's church will hold its second outdoor meeting at the homo of John Knox, 2411 N.
