Walter Berg reported on his meeting with Road Commissioner Clarence Regner. We are to get speed limit signs and "jChildren playing" signs. Within a few months the roads will be resurfaced. The playground area has been precut. The area must be cleared of debris and large rocks and be marked before it can be mowed. Hie children of the Estates will aid in the clean up along with the board members. The next meeting will be held at the Simmons home on Sept. 7. TEEN SWIM AND DANCE PARTY The Sunnyside Estates Women's Club sponsored a teen swim party with a dance that followed on the sixth. As most of you know the weather was not very pleasent but this did not hamper the fun. Some thirteen teens gathered around the pool and had a great time to say nothing of the adults. Kelly Noah really did some swimming with some of the teens trying to follow but found Kelly just was too much for them. At 7 a.m. that evening the dance began at the Hanahan garage. The orchestra, of which Ken Bott is a member, provided the music to dance by. Food and refreshments including foot long hot dogs and all the trimmings, were there far everyone to enjoy. Those who attended were Mary and MT.ke Anderson, Jim and Peggy Stoffel, Mary Jane and John Lakowski, Mary Farley, Elaine Fail, Candy Kobus, Neil Davis, Paul Voight, Bob Kuechel, Mike Mikkelsen, Judy Walczynski, Cathy Palmer, Dorothy Kayler, Steve Wegner, and Don Fiedler with Stan and Joan Walczynski, Kelly and LaVern Noah, Bob and Loretta Mikkelsen and Tom and Dolores Hanahan acting as chaperones. We understand everyone had a great time (as they should) and one of the chaperones has already volunteered for next year. 4-H EXHIBITS AT COUNTY FAIR A number of our children belonging to 4-Hproudly displayed their works at the county fair. Those receiving A, B or € ratings, ribbons and cash awards depending on the rating, were; Lauri Radtke, B rating for her brownies and an A rating blue ribbon for her hat in knitting, Terri Radtke, A rating blue ribbon for her peanut butter vccookies and A rating blue rib-' bon for dog care and obedience training with her pet Schnauzer , Schnapps; Cathy Farley, B rating red ribbon for her oatmeal cookies and an A rating blue ribbon in the dog care show with a Collie named Apache. John Lakowski scored the second highest out of the 100 children who entered in the dog care show. He worked with Pepe, the family Poodle, and received an A rating blue ribbon. Mrs. Ann Radtke, instructor for the 4-H County dog care class and John Lakowski were on the Crystal Lake radio station at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, ft was taped earlier in the day so they were able to listen to themselves. Kathy Farley, Terri Radtke and John Lakowski volunteered to work in the food concession for a couple hours on Friday. Now the long awaited fair is over and these busy youngsters will soon start to prepare their projects for next year. VACATIONS The Siepman family had an enjoyable week camping in Whitewater, Ms. Dottie'steenage cousin, Connie Fiedj of Ingleside, came along. The weather was perfect except for one day when it thundered and hailed. Ron returned home (MI Tuesday to go back to work and Dottie stayed the remainder of the week with the six children and two dogs. On the way home they stopped at an uncle's farm in Elkhorn and rode the, horses. Bob and Loretta Mikkelsen and two sons vacationed at Lipsett Lake in Spooner, Wis. They spent two weeks in a cabin on the lake, fishing and swimming. Loretta's dad, Al Holtfodt, was with them for this wonderful relaxing vacation. The only annoyance to everyone was the T.V. in the cabin which was very rarely turned on. Hie Dale Maules and five children took off for two weeks in their eamping trailer. Their goal was Expo 67 in Montreal, Canada, with stops along the way. Their most fascinating place was Niagara Falls. After spending two days at Expo they 1B&y6c$ a fewvtdays at North ^toy^iXhrtario. This mas si£>- pbsea to be a great fishing spotf so they heard, but they could not even boast of the ones that got away. Before returning home they spent several days in Two Rivers, Wis., visiting both Dale and Charlotte* s parents. ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION Howard and Claire Hoettels and Harold and Marge Palmer went <Mit last Saturday evening. They were celebrating both couples anniversary with dinner at a beautiful restaurant in Algonquin and then to a favorite night spot where they have a wonderful organist, LOST! Mel Simmons is hoping somebody will find the tooth he lost while he was munching popcorn, so he will not have to look in the most likely place! HOSPITAL NOTE Three year old Carol Segerstrom spent Thursday night in Woodstock hospital after receiving several stitches in. the soft palate. She injured herself while playing. Carol is just fine, was quite brave through the whole ordeal. The same can not be said for her parents! FAMILY REUNION P. J. and Karen Schneider held a get-together for fifty relatives at their farm in Wisconsin. Those who enjoyed Sunday at "Wise Acres" were Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Knacksted and three children, the William Wright, Sr., and five children, Mrs. Nora Wright and Mrs. William Wright, Jr., all of McHenry, Mrs. Jack Osterby and two sons of West Dundee, the Harry Lents of Chicago, Mr. Joseph Knapp and daughter of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hogan and two children of Chicago, the Byron Olsens of Moline, The William Brennensand two children of River Forest, the Garret Benerwyks tod child of Crystal Lake, Mr. and Mrs. B. Olsen and Mr. and Mrs. Brennen of Moline. It turned out to be quite a smorgasbord feast as everyone brought different foods. The rain brought the group into the barn and garage. Karen had games galore for all ages' so nobody minded being inside. BIRTHDAY CORNER Happy birthday today to eighteen year old Sandy Fry. Florence Kanter and Loretta Mikkelsen share tomorrow. Bob McDonald celebrates the nineteenth. Jim Williams shares the twentieth with David Noah who becomes ten. Hie twentyfirst is the big day for Bernice Fry, Andrew Sabby and Louise Olson. Billy Walczynski turns nine on the twenty-second. LITTLE LEAGUE All the teams have played the last of their games this week. The all star game will be played on Wednesday evening, Aug. 9. Mrs. Newman, and two sons ' all of Augusta, Ga. For added | fun they went to the Milwaukee Zoo, McHenry County Fair, swinming in Lake Geneva and ^ an airplane ride for Donnie and his two cousins. Herb's sister, Alvina O'Brien of Racine, drove down for a day to visit with them. / Debbie Noah is vacationing with the Koiser family at Big gjpider Lake in Hayward, Wis., for three weeks. Patti Jo Williams spent four days in Palatine at her uncle and aunts' home, the William Calhouns. She was taken to the show, swam *.n the pool and also spent a day" at the Lake and at a nearby shopping cen- , ter where they viewed an airlines exhibit. Karen Schneider and sons, Danny and Chuckie, visited the county fair on Friday with cousin Jim Knackstedt of McHenry, and Mrs. Charles Gies and children also of McHenry. They viewed the livestock, tractor pulling contest and many other exhibits and of course the children rode on many of the rides. On Saturday Karen Schneider's sister and brother-inlaw, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hogen, and children and her father, Joseph Knapp, and sister, Linda, spent the day helping Karen with last minute preparations for the Sunday family reunion. Marcella Miller has just returned from a six week visit in Mount Clemens, Mich., with her daughter and son-in-law, the Robert Lockwoods. They drove her home and are spending a week with her.Marcella's other daughter from Hoffman Estates, and her daughter have been driving over often to spend the day to join in on the fun. The "Walter Bergs went to a family get-together Sunday evening at the Tony Freund • home in Johnsburg. Present were the Joe E. Freunds, the Elmer Hettermanns, the Robert P. Freund family, the Stan Pankiewicz family, the Ken Hettermanns, who are here visiting for a few days. The Hettermanns are residents of College Park, Ga., and two years have passed since their last visit. Well as you can imagine there was a lot to talk about and many new faces they have never seen. Ballard, and three children ©UNIT 491 COUNTY COUNCIL MEETING McHemy County Council meeting was held in Hebron Friday, Aug, 4. President Alvis called the meeting to order* Chaplain Mrs. Arnold Chesak said prayers, next was the pledge of allegiance to the flag by assembly. We recited the Preamble and sang the National Anthem. The units gave reports of the many activities they participated in during June and July. Reports of standing committees came next. Legislative chairman asked all members to contact the House Rules committee and let them know of our support of the House Reorganization Act of 1967 (S.355), the provision to establish a standing committee on veterans' affairs. Wire or write the member of the House from your congressional district, asking him to contact the Rules committee and request action on this bill. They attended the wedding of Dolores cousin in Indianapolis. Then on Sunday they went to Michigan City and returned home.
