Wed August 12 WED SATURDAY Miss Marjorie Ann Jung was a pretty bride on Saturday, Aug. 19, when she exchanged nuptial vows with Mr; Erich William Meier, Jr., of Crystal Lake. Miss Jung is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard J. Jung of 3620 W. Grand avenue, Mc- Henry, and her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Erich W. Meier of Robin lane, Crystal Lake. The wedding was solemnized in St. Mary's Catholic church hy Rev. Fr. Eugene Baumhofer at 3 o'clock. The children's choir offered appropriate music in a church decorated for the occasion with bouquet^ of carnations and glads. Miss Jung walked down the aisle wearing a linen A-line, floor length dress, with train falling from the waist. Both the sleeves andtrain were trimmed in alencon lace. A fourtier, shoulder length veil fell from a crown of satin and lilies* of the valley and she carried a bququet of carnations and roses. Attending her were her sister, Miss Dianne Jung, as maid of honor and Mrs. Carol Jean Smith, Miss Carol Young and Mrs. Clarice Howard as bridesmaids. They wore pink, floor length, A-line linen dresses, flair sleeves trimmed in pink lace. Their floor veils were of deeper pink, attached to pink bows, with carnations of accent color in the bows. Each carried a cascade of accent color carnations and ivy. Edward Hladik served as best man and groomsmen were Blair Gilbert, William Querhammer and Ronald Garry. John Hess and Jack Weightman acted as ushers. Mrs. Jung wore a light green, linen dress with lace bodice and jacket, matching accessories and a yellow rose corsage. Mrs. Meier was attired in a blue lace dress with la:e coat, matching accessories and apink rose corsage. A reception at the V.F.W. clubhouse in McHenry followed the ceremony, attended by 250 guests. SHEPHERD OF HILLS CHURCH ENJOYS PICNIC The regular 8:30 a.m. worship service was held at Shepherd at the Hills Lutheran church Sunday. The 10:30 worship service was held at the McHenry city parte. Following the service, theSundaySchool children enjoyed games conducted by their teachers. Following the noon pot-luck the adults participated in various races and games. The adult recreation was planned by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Blundell and Mr. and Mrs. Don Williams. Prizes were awarded to the following: Sack race, Mrs. Richard Blundell and Alan Olsen; egg throwing contest, Mr. and Mrs. George Kammerer; throwing of water balloons, Mr. anil Mrs. Walter Nuss; shoe kicking, Mrs. Norman Schmaling. The party was attended by over 100 high schoolers at one time or another. - In the afternoon swimming, boating and water skiing were the order of the day, with most taking an active part. From five to seven hot dogs, potato chips, orange pop and birthday cake were served. Finally, from 7 until 10 a live band serenaded the teen-agers. The TARs are in the process of scheduling a series of seminar-type meetings with ad-, ministrative assistants of leading Illinois politicians, campaign managers and legislators. ROBERT BERNA Nativity Lutheran church, Wonder Lake, was the setting for a lovely wedding on Aug. 12 when Miss Shirley Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Johnson of Wooded Shores, became the bride of Mr. Robert Berna of Woodstock. After a week's honeymoon trip, the newlyweds are residing in Woodstock. Henlcins Family Holds Reuhion Mr. and Mrs. Josie Smith attended a Henkins family reunion at the Legion home, Henry, 111., Sunday. It was their first reunion held since 1904. Family members arrived from Iowa, Douglas, Alaska; Collins, Miss.; Sanford, Fla.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Torrence, Calif.; Newark, Mo.; Portsmouth, Va.; Denver, Colo.; Spokane, Wash.; Stanley, Wis.; Minneapolis, Minn.; and Prentis, Pa., as well as Illinois. A total of 250 enjoyed a buffet dinner and spent the entire day reminiscing. Each family brought pictures of the parents, grandparents and children. Some of those in attendance had never met and ethers had not seen each other since childhood. Mr. and Mrs. Smith and the letter's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Henkins, of Buda, 111., mads a trip to Pennsylvania in 1881 and studied the Henkins family tree, making a complete history of it. Mrs. Imelda Holler of Lakan started plans for the reunion in May and sent letters and the history to each family. The success of the reunion was due to the efforts of Mrs. Holler, with the cooperation of many others. John Henry Henkins, greatgreat grandfather of Mrs. Smith, came to this country from Holland, docking Sept. 26, 1752, in Chester, Pa. He made his home in Prentis.
