A complete luncheon will be served this year instead of the dessert luncheon which was served last year and Chairman Pearl Koester and her committee are sure that everyone will enjoy the afternoon as much as they did last year. Now is the time to plan for that first fall fling now that all the children are back in school. WOMAN'S CLUB Tonight is the first meeting of the Lakeland Park Woman's club after the summer sojurn. Do you know where your doggy is today? If he isn't in his own back yard (or front, if you want to be technical) then he is liable to be picked up by the police on the complaint of someone who would prefer not to be the target of your dog's affections. As mentioned in the July police report in last week's paper six dog complaints were filed during the month with proper action taken in each case. So check on Fido or you may ^find yourself bailing him out of the pokey! BOWLING The couples bowling league has had their meeting and the league is just about to swing into a new season. If last year's team names were just a little unusual this year's crop is an easy match. Tean 1 is the Set-ers, Team 2 will henceforth be known as George's. The Sociables are team 3 and team 4 is the Alley-Oops! - Team 5 prefer to be the Untouchables and team 6 is Jim's team. Team 7 is to be known as the 3J's and a B and team 8 is The Fugitives. Team 9 are the Ringers and team 10 will be known as the Mamas and the Papas. The Top-Cats are team 11 and poor old team 12 is the No-Names. The season consists of two rounds of eight games each with a sweeper in April to end the year. The first night of competition will be Saturday, Sept. 9 at 10 p.m. The league will be bowling at the McHenry Recreation this year and at the new time noted. So let 'em roll. LITTLE LEAGUE DANCE The ad book is completed, the hall rented and the band booked for the annual Little League dance. It will be held this year at the VFW on Sept. 30 from 9 to 1 and it sure isn't too early to get your babysitter lined up because the competition gets pretty fierce down near dance time. Most of the managers have tickets which are being sold at a very nominal price. So air out Dad's best suit and get the old dancing shoes ready because it's already September. The annual Little League banquet has been scheduled for Sunday afternoon, Oct. 8 and will be held at the beautiful new American Legion home on Ringwood road. Mark the calendar for Dad and the boys and watch for more information later. STROLLING THROUGH THE PARK Those gorgeous suntans seen around town lately belong to those lucky gals who have just returned from a dream vacation in Hawaii where they surfed and swam and did lots of sightseeing and boy, are there sights in Hawaii to see! They brought home lots of pictures and were most impressed with Pearl Harbor and the beautiful beaches and the extensive pineapple grove. While they were in California between flights they spent a day at Disneyland. Sharon Wagner and Debbie Harkins made the trip along with some other girls and Sharon liked it so well that she's planning on returning soon to live there. Several of her friends have plans along that line too and OH to be young again. Kirk Links has been visiting friends aroun^ town the past week and from reports we've heard he sure has gotten tall. The annual Dixon Christmas Drive is off to an early start this year with a donation of fourteen cents from a group of little guys and dolls who operated a kool-aid stand for a day. These small fry could surely teach us all a lesson in the good old-fashioned Golden Rule. Marie Matchen is back home after spending three weeks in Twin Lakes, Mich., with daughter, Linda Rae Meunier, after the birth of her second daughter, Lisa Ann, on Aug. 8. Now to catch up on three weeks washing and ironing. Kevin Druml has been doctoring all week for what started out to be a cut finger and ended in a full-fledged case of blood poisoning within a few days. Hope it clears up in time to put it to work at school! Lloyd, Gerry, Tom and David Wagner will be spending the Labor Day weekend in Exline, Wis., trying to deplete the finny population by their fair share. They will be staying with Gerry's folks, Mr. and Mrs. G. Harbaugh of Villa Park, who have a home there. Belated birthday greetings to Bill Perry whose big day was Aug. 27. His folks and aunt and uncle came out to help him celebrate with a big birthday dinner. The Tiger team had their post-season picnic at Manager, Ron Meurer's last Friday. They ate loads of hot dogs, chips and ice cream to keep their appetites in good condition. The Pirates also had their annual picnic a week ago Tuesday when it rained, of course, and they moved the doings into the Wickenkamp garage to protect the fo6d. Between drops the boys got in some football - at a baseball picnic yet! They kept nice and warm on hot dogs, potato salad, chips and cupcakes andpopsicles? Kris Flannigan had a teen party last week and the kids rocked the rafters with their music and had a good time in the process. Thanks to all the nice people who called with their news ahead of schedule so that for the first time in ages, I made my deadline! Now that they know I can do it, I've got a real problem. HELP HELP The Koehl family is in need of seventy-two pints of blood to replace that used during Irene's recent illness and surgery.
