All the members will be there in costume and fun and games are the order of the day. BOY SCOUT TROOP 459 The troop camped out for the weekend at Veteran's Acres in Crystal Lake with other troops from the district as part of the district fall camporee. They had nice weather for apart of the time and the boys did well in first aid and in physical fitness. More news on the camporee will be available next week. GIRL SCOUT TROOP 320 We started our meeting with the flag ceremony. We said the pledge of allegiance and the Girl Scout promise, and sang "America the Beautiful". The assistant patrol leaders pinned the patrol cords on the patrol leaders who were Linda Apel, Wondy Quast, Kathy Brooks and Mary Beth Humann. We didn't have all the cords so the treasurer and the scribe should ge.t them next week. We all sang "When 'Er You Make a Promise." We went around to each girl saying the Girl Scout Laws. The hostesses were Mary Ellen Johnson, Diane Dargatz and Cindy Kamp,. We decided to have a patrol box for each patrol. We went into our patrols and each chose a name and this is what we came up with, "The Girls from S.C.O.U.T.S.", The tiirl Scout Six, The Petunias, and The Monkees. Each patrol decided on a badge to work on; Patrol 1, Housekeeping; Patrol 2, Drawing and Painting; Patrol 3, Drawing and Painting; Patrol 4, Books. The patrol leaders, scribe and treasurer were called for the court of honor meeting. The other Girl Scouts played Streets and Alleys, and Hide the Purse. Marianne BorcherdtMiscimski, who is the daughter of Fritz and Liz Borcherdt, gave birth to daughters, Darleen and Doreen. The Miscimrkis are living in Coventry. Our congratulations to the new grandparents. Mrs. Miscovic is back home after spending a few weeks in Buffalo City, Wis., where she was visiting her aunt who is hospitalized in Winona, Minn. She came home on the train which runs along the Mississippi River for quite a ways and said the scenery was just beautiful with all the fall leaves out in their gorgeous array or colors. Our best wishes are extended to Cindy Loser, a former resident, whd was married on Sept. 30 to Rich Wagner of Lake Villa in St. Patrick's church. A reception was held in Richmond following the ceremony. The newlyV/eds are making their home in Johnsburg. Jack Oakford and Larry, Billy and Meg along with the dog went camping over the last weekend in Southern Illinois. They went to Nauvoo and visited Oakford, 111., which was settled by Jack's great-grandparents many years ago. On the way back they stopped to visit relatives who 'ive near Dixon. The bad weather interrupted their journeys so they returned a day sooner. The Braves had their end of the season picnic last Saturday at the home of manager, Jim ' Daurio. They ate heartily of hot dogs, potato salad and all the fixins and expended some of their energy playing games, in the yard. Jim and Mary were assisted by Coach Ed Drum! and Kay in the picnic activities. Rose and Ed Oswald took a weekend trip, to Decatur where they visited Mr. Druml's sister, Dora and Ella Oswald. Richard Abbott visited his folks over the weekend while he was in Chicago on business. The younger Abbott family will be moving back to the Chicago area again as his company has transferred him to Hinsdale. They have been living in Portland, ..Maine, for several years and there should be an exciting Christmas coming up for all the Abbotts, big and small. Get well wishes to Christopher Creutz who has been in Sherman hospital for the past week w'th a bronchial infection. He's getting better and should be home by now, but his mom and dad could use a rest after all the travelling back an J forth. Don Humann attended the homecom'ng football game at the University of Illinois with some friends and saw Minnesota tromp Illinois 10-7. While dad was away Carole and the kids went to Grandma Neuenfeldt's and then took, the subway down to the Chicago loop. We saw the Picasso at the Civic Center and we're still making up our minds about it. We also saw some of the buildings that dad had worked on, which thrilled the kids. We walked all around and showed the kids a lot o f the famous landmarks and then took the bus back home down the Outer Drive. They were quite impressed by the size of Lake Michigan after Mc- Cullom Lake. This was Meg's very first trip around the town although the others rea'ly enjoyed the day, as it was several years since their last visit. A surprise shower was given for Maureen Johnson last Wednesday at Shirley Koch's home. The co-hostesses for the affair were Shipley and Roberta Humphries. Each of the guests brought a gift for the new M.imi 'n.,teadl of the expected baby which made it even more fun to open all the lovely gifts. A fresh fruit compote was served in a fresh pineapple halfshell with homemr.ie coffee cakes and lots of coffee for the morning affair. The guests were Louise Altergott, Lois Chaote, Fran DiBIasi, Connie Giacomo, Anna Hansen, Kitty Hendle, Bunny Jaenicke, Betty Kamp, Joyce Leopold, Mrs. Meilahn, and Fran Meilahn, Fran Quast and Marge Webber, Dorothy Dowell, Shirley George, and Rosemary Tiffany were unable to attend. They had a lovely time and Maureen was really surprised. Luckily the baby waited till the next day to pu* in her appearance. Get well wishes to Eugene Kell who has been ill lately. Werner and Louise Henneberg traveled to Macomb on Sunday to visit son, John, who is a freshman at Western Illinois University. Lorraine and Bill Moll have sold their home and are in the process of getting things ready to move. They've lived here for a long time and will be missed by all their friends and neighbors. Don Veenhuis' sister Linda who is a frequent visitor here gave birth to her first child on Columbus Day. The pride o' the family will be known as Chris Allen Stenzel and our congrats to all. A baby shower was given on Sunday for Georgia Manning Boyle who is expecting her first baby soon. The hostesses for the affair were Diane Major, Carol Knor and Marion Meyers. The affair wh'ch was held at the Knor home had a stork motif and many lovely gifts were given to the expected heir. Many relatives and friends and neighbors were on hand to help with the festivities.
