Ensign 88, of 1109 Bishop street, Antioch, died at 11 o'clock Sunday morning, Oct. 29, in Maple Nursing home following a long illness. Mr. Ensign was born May 27, 1879, in Hebron township and moved to Richmond in 19- 07. He came to McHenry ten years later, where he farmed and later worked as a drainage contractor. The family moved to Mj'11- burn in 1950 and to Antioch in 1957. He was married July 10,1907, at Richmond to Carrie S. Thomas. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1957. A son, Howard N., died Nov. 19', 1966. He is survived by the widow, of Antioch, one son, Rolland C., of Harvard; five grandchildren and one greatgranddaughter. Services will be conducted at 1:30 Friday afternoon from the Strang funeral home in Antioch, with Rev. Donald Cobb of the Methodist church and Rev. L,H. Missersmith of the Millburn Congregational church officating. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery, McHenry. GEO.IGE B. PEDERSEN Last rites will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon from '.he George R. Justen & Son chapel for George B. Pedersen of 5508 Sommerville drive, Wonder Lake. Burial will be in Ringwood cemetery. Mr. Pedersen, a fifteen-year year resident of this area, died Oct. 31 in V.A. Research hospital, Chicago. By trade, Mr. Pedersen was a painter and decorator. Survivors are one son; Vernon; two step-sons, Fredrich and William Wessler; two sisters, Olga Murphy and Clara Wetta; and four brothers, Hans, Joseph, Nels and Harold. MAYME GRANGER ARVIDSON Relatives here have received word of the death of Mrs. Mayme Granger Arvidson, which occurred very unexpectedly at her home in Los Angeles, Calif., on Thursday, Oct. 26. She was born in McHenry Oct. 15, 1888, daughter of.Algon and Mayme Lamphere Granger, and spent her early life here, where she graduated from high school. She was married to Raymond Peter Arvidson on Oct. 15,1910. They made their home in this vicinity for several years before moving to Los Angeles. Her husband preceded her in death in 1957. Survivors are a son, George Raymond; a daughter, Louise; and two grandchildren of Los Angeles.. Services were conducted Monday, Oct. 30, with burial in Hollywood Hills, Calif. CLARENCE E. EHRHARDT Clarence E. Ehrhardt, 63, of 207 S. Highland drive, Lakemoor, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, in McHenry hospital, where he had .been a patient for one day. He had lived in that community for twenty years. Mr. Ehrhardt was born Feb. 25, 1904, in Park Ridge. The deceased was a die caster by trade. Survivors are his wife, Margaret; three daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Marlene) Roberts, and Mrs. Nancy Fort of McHenry and Susan Ehrhardt at home; one son, Kenneth, of McHenry; five grandchildren; one sister, Edith Matson, of Panorama City, Calif.; four brothers Walter of Indianapolis, Ind., George of Mount Prospect, Alfred of Park Ridge and Gus of Chicago. Visitation will be at the George R. Justen & Son funeral homo until 1 o'clock Saturday, when services will be held at the chapel. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery. Be Wise Shop In McHenry m Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lower of Excelsior, Minn., were Saturday visitors in the Paul Yanda home. The Lowers' were enroute to Toulon, 111., to attend the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Harlan. Mrs. Lower and Mrs. Yanda are nieces of Mrs. Harlan. Mr. and Mrs. George H. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson and Miss Maud Granger were in Elgin, Saturday evening, to attend the wedding of Miss Jeannette Grandt and" Gordon Smith. The Howard Dowell family and Mrs. Agnes Wissell were Sunday visitors in the home of the latter*s son, Robert Wissell, and family in Watertown, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. David Cisnoski apd family of Madison, Wis., were weekend guests in the Richard Snyder homa. They came to see Ann Snyder, Mrs. Cisnoski's god-child, make her First Communion at St. Patrick's church Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. George Tonyan, who spent the summer here, have returned to their home in Tucson, Ariz. Among the out of town folks who attended the wedding of Miss Sylvia Tekampe and Gerald Blake last Saturday were the Robert Bigelow family, Fort Jennings Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. William German, Delphos, 0- hio, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Girding, Glendorf, Ohio; also Mrs. Eleanor Manning, son, Robert, and Mrs. John Manning, Oak Park; Sister Eleanor, Glendale Heights, Mr. and Mrs. John May, Waukegan and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rosing, Libertyville. Miss Emma Jacob of St. Charles was a guest in the Robert Thompson home Tuesday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tomlinson, Lee and Lynn, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hoppe, Frances Vycital and Alcie Peet attended the celebration of the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wallace in Beloit, Wis., Sunday. Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson and son, Charles, were Sunday visitors in the George Thompson home in Reeseville, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. James Thompson, Mary Beth and Tommy and Herb Simon spent the weekend in the home of the latter's daughter, Mrs. Carl Elshoff, in Springfield. Mary Beth also visited in Normal where she attended the homecoming at Illinois state university. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bienapfl, the Dale Dixon family, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Ricker and son, David, attended a gathering at the home of the former's daughter, Mrs. Richard Sedar, in Waukegan Sunday honoring their daughter, Cynthia, a First Communicant at St. Bartholomew's church on that day. Mesdames Eleanor Foley, Vera Ward and Miry Butler and Miss Mary Kinney attended a retired teachers meeting held at Crystal Lake Wednesday of last week. Miss Kathy Thompson was home from Illinois state university in Normal for a weekend visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Thompson. Miss Kathy Pitzen was home from Milwaukee to spend the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Pjfken. Mrs. Mabelle Frisby of 803 N. Taylor street, Oak Park, sister-in-law ofRpb^rt J. Frisby of McHenry, passed away Monday at the age of ninetyone after a few weeks illness. Her only survivor, other than nieces and nephews, is her 93 years old husband, Thomas L. Frisby. AMONG THE SICK Mrs. Louis Block of Ittghland Shores, Wonder Lake,^entered Skokie Valley hospital Wednesday for bone surgery. BIRTHS OTHER BIRTHS Lt. (JG) and Mrs. William G. Biddlecom of Dahlgren, Va., are the parents of their first child, a daughter born Oct. 21 in Fredericksburg, Va. The 7 lb. 2 oz. baby has been named Ann Elena. Mrs. Biddlecom is the former Jean Borchardt, daughter of Ferdinand Borchardt. MORE INTERSTATE A 10-mile section of Interstate 70 between Vandalia and Mulberry Grove was opened to traffic Oct. 20 bringing to 950 the total mileage on the state's portion of the Interstate system open to traffic. Interstate 70 enters Illinois at a point west of Terre Haute, Ind. and extends across the state to a connection with other Interstate routes in the East St. Louis area. Total mileage on Interstate 70 in Illinois is 160 miles. The new section of paving will bring to 101 the mileage on the route open to traffic.
