The Christmas party was discussed and it was learned that Peter Heitz, from the village of Sunnyside will present a program entitled "The Wanderful World of Magic". Each member of the Women's club is asked to bring a dozen cupcakes for the party to be held at the Johnsburg Community club on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. WELCOME NEW COUPLE A hearty welcome is extended to Dick and Sharon McManaway, who have moved into their home at 2016 Grandview. Dick's aunt, Daisy Sfrencer, is staying with them for the winter. Dick is an x-ray technician employed in McHenry. At the moment, Sharon is busy being a housewife. She is also the Girl Scout troop leader. P.T.A. The St. John's P.T.A. met on Monday. Quite a few of our residents were in attendance. A discussion was held on the conditions of the school system. Pros and cons were voiced. 4HERS MEET The November meeting was held Tuesday, Nov. 28. Those who attended the meeting were Helen and Kathy Farley, Debbie Fuqua, Darlene Gerke, Alfred, Gerard and Rosemarie May, Marty and Sherwood Palmer, David and Diane Noah,Robbin, Lauri and Terri Radtke, Donald Rose, Patti Jo Williams, Allen and Karen Kennebeck.Bill Walczynski, Eric Mikkelson and John and Mary Jane Lakowske. Laurie Radtke gave a talk on day camp of last year. Mary' Jane Lakowske, gave a speech on her trip to State 4H week, Sherwood Palmer also talked about his trip to 4Hweek. Terri Radtke gave a demonstration on "Training a dog". Sharon Zook and David Smith also talked on 4H.' It was achievement night. Those who were in for one year received first year pins and certificates. Those" who have been in two or more years received seals. Pins were given to outstanding members. HERE AND THERE Mel Simmons' twin brother, Jim, and his wife recently adopted a baby boy. The baby was named John Russel. The Jim Simmons family live in North Carolina. On Sunday, the Simmons family went to Milwaukee to visit with Shirley's sister, Mrs. Bernice Farina. Gloria Von Oepen and sons visited with her cousin, Mrs. Pat Porter, at her home in 385-1173 Crystal Lake, on Friday afternoon. Her aunt, Alice Guerra, also enjoyed the lunch and get-together. On Sunday, the Walczynski' family went to Melrose Park to visit with Joan's ex-classmate. Another friend from South Havan, Mich., was also there. Getting together with old friends ended a holdiay weekend perfectly. A1 and Irene May and family went ^o Chicago to help her brother and sister-in-law celebrate their thirty-second anniversary. Marcella Miller, who usually spends the winters with us, will be enjoying the Florida sunshine all winter this year, with her sister, Anna. We are sorry to hear that we are losing Bob and Lois McDonald. They are moving to Rockford to be closer to their employment. OOPS! SORRY DEPT. Last week we reported that a Betty Gies celebrated her birthday with Frank Michels and Wayne Hager at the Hager home. The real person was Billy Gies. We're very sorry for the error. GIVING THANKS ON THANKSGIVING Helge and Ruth Dettlow gave thanks with Ruth's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Olson at the Dettlow home. They enjoyed a delicious dinner. Donald' and his1 wife and family arrived for supper. After supper, the family sang to Helge for his birthday. Ann and Floyd Simmons and their baby, Gary Thomas, attended Thanksgiving dinner at the Mel Simmons' home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mickels enjoyed their Thanksgiving dinner at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Dorie and Roy Gowin. The Tom Williams family went to Tom's parents' "home in Chicago for Thanksgiving dinner. Since Tom has twelve brothers and sisters, there were about fifty persons there. Mrs. Elsie Whitmas had five of her children and their families, from as far away as St. Louis, Mo. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS A dinner party was held at the Gerke home in honor of Charlotte Gerke. Heir fiance, David Armit, was present. Unfortunately, Jean was down with the flu, so more extensive celebrating was impossible. On Friday night her aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Krause and their two children and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Dowe and their three children, and grandma and grandpa Dowe and Linda Bessemer came to help her blow out the lonely candle. Ray Kropf shared his birthday with his brother, George, Jr., around the Thanksgiving table. Mrs. KropPs mother and sister, mother-in-law, and some of George and Linda's Mends Were also there. Diane Noah had a few girls from school and Debbie Fuqua to help her celebrate her birthday. They enjoyed barbecues and potato chips and cake, and played games and danced. Seventeen year old Judy Walczynski had several celebrations for her natal day. Over the weekend, the family had cake, etc. At school, her friends presented her with gifts and cupcakes. On Nov. 28, she had Mary Anderson and Betty Himpelmann over for cake and to listen to her new records. Sherwood Palmer enjoyed cake with his maternal and paternal grandparents from Evanston on Thanksgiving Day. ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS Roger and Betty Moore celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. They went into the city to see a stage play and had dinner afterwards. Dolores and Tom Hanahan, Jr., celebrated their anniversary by going out to dinner at a lodge in Wisconsin.
