NATIVITY LUTHERANCHURCH NEWS Annual Congregational meeting, Sunday, Jan. 19 --the 10:30 a.m. worship service will serve as devotions for the annual meeting, after which all visitors and children will be excused so that the .meeting may begin as soon as possible. Supervision will be provided for the children downstairs during the meeting, which will convene at approximately 11:20 a.m. It is hoped that all will attend as it is just as important for you to know the working of the church as it is for those who are doing the work. Your knowlecjge of the situation as a congregation is important so that as a congregation it may function smoothly and work together. Keyholdei;s notice -- Due to the recent vandalism suffered here at Nativity, we are forced to change the locks and keys for all doors. If you are in possession of a key you are asked to contact the office for a new key and to turn in your old one as soon as possible. We are hoping to, have the locks and keys changed no later than the end of this, month. January's Voyager (Couples Club) Nite wil'Sbe foil the ball and fill your tummy at Toniasello's in johnsburg. It will be Scotch Doubles bowling and dinner on Sunday, Jan. 26„.Hosts for the evening are Chuck and Barb Thacker and Fred and Gladi Bowers. They are asking that you have your money in by the nineteenth so that they may give an accurate number on the reservation as it is a 'sit down' dinner. Scotch doubles is a bowling game where you roll only one ball per turn and the poor guy following must pick up your spare pins or if he's lucky and you get a strike, he has a fresh start. Sounds as though there is much to look forward once again with the Voyagers. See you there?'???? Meet at church at 6:45 p.m., Jan. 26. Any questions may be asked of the Art Tyrells, 653- 9350. BIRTHDAY Happy birthday to Miss Carolyn Ehredt, daughter of the Ward Ehredts, OakwoodShores, who blows out nine candles, today, Jan. 17. SERMON ON «GIFT OF GOD" AT LOCAL CHURCH "The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." This verse from Romans is the Golden Text of the Bible Lesson-Sermon titled "Life" that will be read in all Christian Science churches this Sunday. At McHenry Christian Science society, Lincoln road and Eastwood lane, services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Among related passages to be read from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by the denomination's Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, is the following: "Life is eternal. We should find this out, and begin the demonstration thereof. Life and goodness are immortal. Let us then shape our views of existence into loveliness, freshness, and continuity, rather than into age and blight." SET FEB. IS DEADLINE FOR LICENSE DISPLAY * Midnight Saturday, tob„ 15, will be the deadline for displaying 1969 Motor Vehicle license plates on the vehicles, Secretary of State Paul Powell has announced. " Altho'hgh we have processed 200,000 more applications than we had at the same time a year ago, there are still too many motorists who have not yet made application to permit an earlier deadline, as we had hoped to do," Mr. Powell said. He urged ^motorists to submit their applications without delay pointing out that processing time plus the fact that license plates are third class mailmay result in an interval of two or three weeks between receipt of the application and delivery of the plates. ! Secretary Powell emphasized that the deadline is for having the, plates on the car, not merely having applied for them, or even carrying them inside the car. Law enforcement agencies throughout the state and nation have been advised of the deadline, he said. Plates may be purchased over the counter at Secretary of State's office facilities in Springfield and Chicago and at eighty-seven banks throughout the state. Service News Army Private Sam S. Amy cries, using one of her new-found words. Her voice trembles with wonder, and suddenly the fish Bob brought her become more than ordinary. They're magical creatures, slashing through the water with a flick of their tails, golden gleams of fascination. How thrilling is a baby's world--changing, growing. Every, day brings a new experience, some added lore to shape the growing personality. Bob and I know how important these days are in Amy's development. Her acquaintance with the world now will affect her life greatly. That's why we take her to church every Sunday. We want her to learn of God's love from earliest remembrance. God is the light of the world.
