COUNTRY CLUB NEWS Geri Neubauer 385-7194 COUPLE ENJOYS CONVENTION AND WESTERN TRIP Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pintozzi of River Stream drive combined business with pleasure in attending a convention in Phoenix, Ariz., and then going on to spend a few days in Las Vegas, Nevada. While there they took in some of the fabulous shows and night spots that make Vegas the vacation spot it is, from there they went on to Boulder Dam for a little sight seeing. Both Chuck and Rose Marie report a marvelous time, great weather but nice to be home to the kids. TOP BOWLERS IN COUNTY TOURNAMENT Tom Warren and his team of Don Mercure, Bobby O'Brien, Don Humann and Gino Visconti bowling for the Evanston Sheet Metal team placed seventh in the McHenry County bowling tournament held in Johnsburg last week. Tom tallied up a 521 while Gino brought in a 608, Don Mercure a 575, Don Humann, 533 and Bobby O'Brien a 531. With scores like this the team has a good chance to place in the next game played March 27 in Woodstock. Our best wishes for their continued good luck. ANNIVERSARY WALTZ A sincere happy anniversary to Liz and Paul Joza who celebrate on March 31. Our best wishes for many, many more " Happy Anniversaries" to you both. (And not just because Liz helps out with the news once in awhile, she's just "nice people".) « DOG GONE Two weeks ago we submitted an article on the "doggy situation" in our area. Since the article appeared the situation seems to have vastly improved, due largely to our own "good neighbor" policy. The Mchenry County Rabies Inspector contacted me in regard to the article and informed me of the ordinances now in effect in the unincorporated areas of McHenry County. Along with the fact that if s nice to know someone outside of our area reads this column, the inspector provided me with information helpful in correcting the problems we were having. While the areas within the city limits of McHenry are under city jurisdiction and ordinances, the unincorporated areas are under county ordinances. Section No. 4 of the ordinance concerns "Dogs running at large", which seems to be our major problem. The section states that any dog found running at large within the unincorporated areas of the county of McHenry shall be considered to be a public nuisance. It shall be the duty of the Rabies Inspector, or his deputy, to impound any such dog. The owner can redeem his dog by paying his keep while impounded and fine of one dollar for not wearing the evidence of inoculation against rabies. If dog is not redeemed by owner within five days after notice the dog will be disposed of. In case of "no identification on a dog when picked up, that dog shall be disposed of within forty-eight hours. While this might seem like pretty harsh treatment to "dispose of a dog within forty-eight hours we might stop to think that the dog cannot put* his tag on himself, it is our responsibility to see that the tag is worn at all times or risk losing our pet. This section covers a large area and is meant to protect the property of our neighbors as well as our own. I have several copies of all eighteen sections of the ordinance and will see that anyone who wants one will get one. The inspector has also provided copies of the McHenry county rabies control facts for anyone who wants one. If you would be interested in copies of either the ordinance or the rabies control fact sheet or both call me and I'll be glad to see you get one. SHOP IN McHENRY Tax Tips I A concerted effort to speed up federal income tax refunds due northern Illinois residents is being made this year, E. C. Coyle, Jr. District Director of Internal Revenue, saidl today. The IRS has already refunded $88,102,862 to northern Illinois taxpayers. Mr. Coyle said taxpayers will have to file their returns early for IRS to be able to send refund checks out early. Taxpayers are urged to file during this month. This would be the opportune time for taxpayers to gather their records, review all their deductions, compute the tax surcharge and avoid last minute errors. Mr. Coyle advises taxpayers to use the preaddressed envelope that came with their Form 1040 to expedite processing. Returns are to be sent to the IRS Service Center, Midwest Region, Kansas City, Missouri 64170. HOLIDAY LIQUORS MCHENRY'S FOREMOST 4512 W.
