I LAKELAND PARK NEWS Carole Humann 885-1605 REPORT SLATE OF CANDIDATES AT GENERAL MEET With the annual general meeting of the Lakeland Park Property Owners Association scheduled for Sunday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at the community house the nominating committee composed of Nedra Eckhart, Joe Leone and Martin Spoto reports the slate of candidates. Nomination has been accepted by Everett Fleming, Bill Glosson, Elmer Hagemann, Les Eckhart,. Lloyd Wagner, Edward Erb and Dennis Storlie. Absentee ballots are' able on Friday, April 11, at the home of Mrs. Nedra Eckhart, nominating committee chairman, 5215 W. Willow Lane from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. All ballots must be returned by 9 p.m. on April 11 in a sealed envelope. NEWS ABOUT DUES As stated in the latest issue of the LPPOA Newsletter, the dues for the coming, fiscal year to begin on May 1 will remain the same as last year. Seven dollars ($7.00) for dues and twenty-one dollars ($21.00) for garbage service for a total of twenty - eight dollars ($28.00) are due on May 1 and payable before May 31. Semi-annual payments are acceptable with installments of sixteen dollars and fifty cents ($16.50) due on May 1 and Nov. 1. Payments may be made by mail to LPPOA clerk, Mrs. Helen Strandquist at 1909 N. Shore Drive or to the new co-clerk, Mrs. Lavonne Fleming at 1909 N. Easter Avenue. For convenience of those unable to mail their remittance, Mrs. Strandquist will accept payments at her home on Tuesdays only during the month of May from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The current billing will be in the mail in ample time for members to meet the May 1 due date. If your have papers call 385-2717 on Monday, April 7,"for pickup either Wednesday or Thursday afternoon of that week. If you prefer to drop them off the address is 1620 Highview and put in the two car garage. The bundles must be collected before April 11 and all magazines and other glossy paper materials must be bundled separately from the newsprint. The AFS is composed of Senior honor students who sponsor a foreign exchange student for their senior year of high school. These students make their home as a member of a local family for the entire year and then tour the United States with a group of exchange students before returning to their own homes. Please help these kids to raise the money they need to sponsor another student in the coming school # year. WOMAN'S CLUB The Lakeland Park Woman's cliiff is meeting tonight, Thursday, at the community house at 8:30 p.m. Election of officers is the main item on the agenda with a discussion of the spring luncheon to follow. All old members are invited to return and new residents are especially invited to attend the meetings and hopefully to join the organization. The Woman's club meets on the first Thursday of every month except July and August at 8:30 p.m. at the community house. STORK GRAM Sgt. and Mrs. David Druml are proud to announce the birth of their third child and second daughter, Denise Catherine Druipl born on Sunday, March 30, at 4:53 a.m. at Castle Memorial hospital on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The lovely lass weighed 7 lbs. and 1 oz. and measured 19% inches at birth. She was happily welcomed by big brother, Dave, who will be five "years old on April 15 and sister, Doneen, who is 2% years old. The baby's maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Smith of Johnsburg. The paternal grandparents are Ed and Kay Druml of Lakeland Park. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Oswald of Decatur and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Drum! of Wonder Lake are the paternal great-grandparents. Our congratulations to Dave and Donna on their fine family. LITTLE LEAGUE TRY OUTS Try-outs for the new boys who registered in Little League this year are to be held at the baseball field on Shore drive and Center street at 1 p.m. on April 12. Only the new boys need to try out. As is the usual practice in the spring repairs will be made on the ball field to overcome the ravages of winter. Come one, come all and we'll have a ball. The planned dates for field work are May 3 and May 4. STROLLING THROUGH THE PARK A very happy Easter to all and good luck with the egg salad during the following week. Our best wishes are extended to Gene Boelter and his bride the former Sandra Kay Olcott of Woodstock. The newlyweds were married on March 15 at Zion Lutheran church with a reception following at the church. They are making their first home in Wonder Lake. The engagement of Josephine Cina to Mr. Harry James Browning of Aurora. Josephine is the daughter of Mrs. Frances Cina of Sleepy Hollow and the late Joseph Cina. She is a Junior at St. Dominic college at St. Charles and Mr. Browning is in advanced officer training school at Fort Leonard Wood, Kansas. He was formerly director of admissions at St. Dominic college. Many of our young teens were confirmed in area churches last Sunday. Among them were Linda Meurer who made her confirmation at First Methodist church and Holly Koehl who was confirmed at Faith Presbyterian church. Seems like almost every family has at least one member under the weather in the past couple of weeks. The kids have been suffering from a variety of ailments. Ron Meurer has been a patient at McHenry hospital for the past two weeks. Am sure he would appreciate some cards. Bill Bockman is back home after surgery at McHenry hospital and June Meuller is also home again after a bout with pneumonia. She was also a patient at McHenry hospital.
