* PG. 12 - PLAINDEALER -WED. MAY 7, 1969 Hospital Musin' & Mcanderin Week Observance (Continued from page 1) (Continued from page 1) tion of Mrs. Lois Van Rennsselaer, R.N., assistant director of nursing. All nurses take part in periodic nursing conferences with the head nurse to aid in the performance of duties as a registered nurse. Registered nurses undergo specialized programs conducted by staff doctors. Topics in recent months have included such subjects as vascular surgery with pre-operative and post-operati$e»- care; types of traction applications; abdominal- perenial resertion and colostymy; surgical treatment of gastro-intestinal diseases; and cardiac resuscitation. In addition, weekly classes for nurses in coronary care give instruction in methods and procedures. Supervisors on each of the three shifts have review discussions on nursing methods. Films are scheduled on various subjects. Licensed practical nurses and nurses' aides participate in registered nurse training programs when it will help them with the performance of their duties. Nursing staff members are sent to participate in programs away from the hospital. The operating room supervisor, for example, attended a four-day conference on infection control. Other programs for specific areas of responsibility have included emergency room management, cardiac care, nursing management and care of maternal and new-born patients. "The most effective teaching probably occurs at the time of need - when a department head or registered nurse can show another how to do something required at that time to care for a patient", asserted Mrs. Peterson. Unit clerks are given instruction in the clerical work, reler skating and hopscotch. Can't figure out whether the population explosion, which leaves little sidewalk space available, is responsible, or whether our young people have just stepped into sophistication at an earlier age. KAF LEAGUE HOLDS HOUSING MEET (Continued from page 1) "Woodstock and McHenry - indeed the entire county - need housing for low-income families, but it must be housing the community can be proud of," commented Mrs. Zipse, chairwoman of the study group. Realtors and local government officials have been invited to this meeting. " We hope anyone „ interested in housing will attend," said Mrs. Zipse in emphasizing an invitation to the public. For more information about the meeting or the operation of this league committee, contact Mrs. Zipse or Mrs. Frank Templin. A1 Vales has been employed at th e bank for ten years. He lives with his mother at 1019 S. River Road, McHenry. He is an accomplished musician having played lead saxophone with some of the top dance bands in the county. Albert G. Vales, Head Teller at the McHenry State Bank, is anxious, willing and able to help you obtain fast efficient service. If you have a question regarding your banking transaction, ask Al or one of the other well trained tellers. Al says his biggest problem is h aving just the right number of tellers available to serve you. The uneven flow of lobby traffic sometimes results in lines at the tellers window, but because of your (the customer) cooperation and understanding, and because of the dedication of the tellers, we think they do a good job. ASK AL about your banking transaction, he might even answer a question about music. A FULL "Where Family Money Matters" CFRVIf F , BANi<y McHenry State Bank 3510 W.
