WONO ER LAKE GAIL WILLIAMS 653-5371 AUXILIARY HOLDS POPPY DAY ON SATURDAY, MAY 17 Some American Legion auxiliary volunteer is going to hand you a bright red poppy on Saturday, May 17. It is expected that more than twelve thousand dollars will be paid directly to the hospitalised veterans for this year's poppy assembling. The remainder of the funds contributed will be utilized by the American Legion and the American Legion auxiliary for service and relief work among the needy disabled veterans and their dependents. After the Mass, Beth was honored at an open house gathering at her home with friends, relatives and neighbors helping to celebrate the day. DANCER IN CHORAL PROGRAM Miss Mary Jo Gaub, daughter of the Junior Elmer Gaubs, Woodstock, formerly of Wooded Shores, was a dancer in the recent McHenry Chc»ral Club spring program. Mary Jo, a senior at the West campus plans to continue her dancing by entering Rockford college this fall. Mary Jo is a student of the Patti Jean Dance Studio, Highland Shores. In order to do this, however, they will need swimming instructors and guards for the project and would like your help in trying to get them. NATIVITY LUTHERAN CHURCH NEWS Sunday, May 25, is the last Sunday for Sunday school until September. LCW evening circle, Wednesday, May il, 8 p.m. at church. Also the LCW quarterly meeting with all three circles in attendance will be Wednesday, June 18, at church at 8 p.m. with election and installation of officers. There will also be a kitchen shower to help supply the necessary items such as dish towels, detergent, cleanser, etc. This Sunday, May 18, the Voyagers and family will travel to Milwaukee Zoo for a family day. The car caravan will leave the church at 12:15 p.m. If you have not been called please feel welcome to attend and meet at the church. HARRISON SCHOOL KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION Parents of children entering kindergarten in the 1969-70 school year living in the Harrison School District No. 36 are urged to attend a registration meeting at the school on Monday, May 26, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Necessary information and forms have been sent to each parent from a list made up from a current survey. Parents are urged to call the school (653-5742) if they have not received these forms by Friday, May 16. A certified copy of the birth certificate and a health examination are necessary prior to registration and it would therefore be helpful if parents would contact their physician immediately to secure this medical examination. HAS LEAD PART IN PLAY Miss Cheryl Elbersen, daughter of the Gerald Elbersens, Indian Ridge, a sophomore at East campus, has the lead part in the play, "Little Mary Sunshine", a musical comedy to be presented May 15 through 18, 8 p.m. at West campus on the Crystal Lake blacktop. LIST ELECTION CALENDAR FOR FALL CONVENTION An election calendar for the Constitutional Convention primary election to be held on Sept. 23, has been announced. The general election will be held Nov. 18. July 7 is the first day for candidates to file petitions in the office of the Secretary of State. July 11 is the last day to file. Minimum number of signatures required for nominating petition for members of the Constitutional Convention is 1000. PRUST Mel Prust, 31 years old, a native of Palatine, has recently joined the staff of the McHenry State Bank. He presently resides with his wife, Lois, and five children in Hales Corners, Wis. He and his family are moving to McHenry at the completion of the present school year. Mr. Prust is a graduate of Northern Illinois university, with a degree in business education. He spent one year as a graduate assistant at Northern. He also taught school, and coached at Leaf River, 111. He was a member of the Naval Air Reserves for six years, and saw active duty during the years of 1962 and 1963. His banking experiences began as a bank examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. His position prior to joining the McHenry State Bank, was in the Comptroller's division of the Marshall and Ilsley Bank of Milwaukee, Wis. John Bauer, who had just finished his sophomore year at St. Mary's college, Winona, Minn., spent a few days with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Bauer, before returning to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Bauer, in Tulsa, Okla., to spend the summer. Miss Patti and Suzie Heuser of Bellwood spent a few days recently with their grandmother, Mrs. Helen Heuser. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Sand and Mrs. Amanda Freund visited the latter's brother, Rev. John Theobold, at Mercy hospital, Dubuque, Iowa, Saturday. Miss Joni Adams of Chicago spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Alfons Adams. Other visitors on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Murray of Mundelein. The William German^ family of Delphos, Ohio, were weekend visitors in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Blake, where Sister Eleanor of Glendale Heights visited his mother, Mrs. Mabel Johnson, at the McHenry hospital on Mother's Day. Mrs. Marie Vales, son, Albert, and Mr. and Mrs. James Glosson and sons were in Sycamore, Sunday, to call on Mrs. Marie Kempfer who is recovering from surgery at the Sycamore hospital. They also visited her husband, Frank Kempfer, and family at their home in Genoa. Mrs. Mabel Powers spent the Mother's Day weekend in the home of her son, William, in Batavia. Mr. and Mrs. James Wissell, son, Chris, of Hebron, and daughter, Mrs. Jerry Holden, husband and son, James, of Linton, Wis., were Mother's Day guests of the former's mother, Mrs. Agnes Wissell. Out of town folks here to attend a christening party for Keith Allan, new son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Adams, at their home last Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Owens of West Dundee, Mrs. Mary Owens, Mrs. Arthur Kunde, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Strelecky„ and son and Miss Lois Jakel, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kunde and sons, Northbrook. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zickus of Oak Lawn were Sunday guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zickus. Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Schoenholtz entertained at a family gathering on Mother's Day.
