Sec. 2, Pg. 6 - Plaindealer - Fri. May 23, 1969 STATE ISSUES SO,000 DRIVER CERTIFICATES Ray Page, Illinois Superintendent of Public Instruction, has announced that since Jan. 1, more than 50,000 Illinois Driver Education Certificates have been issued to students between 15 and 18 years of age. Page reported that under the reimbursable program all schools now offer both classroom and practice driving instruction. Schools were reimbursed $5,762,568 during the 1967-68 school year. During this span 175,177 students completed the classroom phase of the program and of this number, 136,286, or 77 per cent of the eligible students also completed practice driving. Page said that 1,404 automobiles were used in the driving training course in Illinois schools and all but a few of these were equipped with automatic transmissions. Ninety eight percent of these cars were loaned to schools by local automobile dealers. Page reported that the program is offered in 716 public schools, 34 parochial, private and independent schools, 10 governmental agencies and 5 commericial schools. The report pointed out that students taking both classroom and practice driving training can normally complete a course in a minimum of six weeks during the school year and a minimum of four weeks during the summer. The course consists of 30 hours of classroom work and 6 hours of practice driving. When a student completes a course he is granted a certificate by -the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and may then take the certificate to the Driver's License examining station and apply for an Illinois driver's license. Provisions have been made for youths who come into Illinois from out-of-state who are under 18 years of age and must comply with the Illinois Driver Licensing Law before an Illinois driver's license will be issued. A youth who has successfully completed a driver education course in another state equivalent to the course required in Illinois may obtain an Illinois driver education certificate through the local public school district in which they are now a resident by submitting to the lpcal school district Driver Education department a driver education certificate from the state in which the course was taken or equivalent proof as required by the Superintendent of Public Instruction. Because courses of classroom instruction only have been approved this year in some parochial, private and independent schools, Illinois driver education certificates are being lIBUNOnCE Public Notice is hereby given that on May 13th, A.D. 1969, a certificate was filed in the Office of the County Clerk of McHenry County, Illinois, setting forth the names and postoffice addresses of all of the persons owning, conducting and transacting the business known as WESTERN MORTGAGE BROKERAGE £0. located at 3440 Elm Street, McHenry, Illinois 60050. He thrills at the reflections cast upon the water j by the rainbow palette of the setting sun. He is awed, hum- v bled -- yet, at the same time, fiercely proud. His feelings contradict each other. For he knows he is a small creature dwarfed by the overpowering glory of nature, yet, at the same time, a man -- a man created in the image of God. Of course, we all need to be humble, but we also need to be proud. In one sense we are insignificant, and in another we are all-important. The problem lies in finding the proper balance between the two. To understand the whole man -- the all of you, you must turn to His Church where God is forever revealing the mysteries of His universe. Here we are taught truths that have endured throughout the ages. Here we must come if we are to find the proper balance in life. Copyright 1969 Keister Advertinng Service, Inc., Stratburg, Va.
