6* Miss Berkley, Mr Kupstis Wed May 10 Rev. Herman Graef officiated at the 4:30 o'clock afternoon ceremony that united in marriage Miss Sandra Lee Berkley and Mr. Frederick C. Kupstis on Saturday, May 10, in Zion Lutheran church. Miss Berkley is the daughter of Mrs. Marie Berkley of 3710 W. Timothy lane, McHenry, and the late Herman Berkley, and Mr. Kupstis is the son of Mrs. Irma Gunther of 4216 N. Riverview drive, McHenry. Attending the couple were Mrs. Edward C. (Doris) Wagner, Jr., of Spring Grove, sister of the bride, and Charles Kupstis of Spring Grove, brother of the groom. After spending a few days in Springfield, the newlyweds have taken up housekeeping at , 3604A W. Main street, McHenry. The bride graduated from McHenry high school in 1964 and the groom graduated the previous year from Marian high school. He entered the Air Force and spent three years in Germany. Both the bride and groom are employees of the McHenry State Bank. -• • I P ersonals j Mr. and Mrs. Herbert M. Engdahl, Sr., have returned from a five months stay in Honolulu, Hawaii. They stopped with their son, H.M. Engdahl, Jr., and family in Tacoma, Wash., where they moved recently from Livonia, Mich., and he is now manager of a grocery company based in Tacoma. They are residing in Oakbrook, a suburb of that city. Mrs. Sallie Fulde ofSunCity, Ariz., a former Crystal Lake resident, has been spending some time visiting friends in Crystal Lake, McHenry and Mundelein. Mr. and Mrs. William Arnett and baby of Salem, Ore., are spending a couple of weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Frank May have returned to their home in Chetek, Wis., after a week's visit with relatives and friends here. The Ralph Freund family of DeForest, Wis., spent a recent day with his mother, Mrs. A.P. Freund. Miss Clara Miller has returned from West Allis, Wis., where she visited her aunt, Ceil Chamberlin, the past week, and while there helped her celebrate Mather's Day and her eightieth birthday. Old friends here will be happy to know she is still very active and enjoying the best of health. Mr. and Mrs. John Krohn of Lake Geneva, Fred and Bill Baldwin, Mrs. Smith of Rockford and Mrs. Regina Nett of McHenry were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Schaefer last Saturday and passed the rainy day playing cards and enjoying Mrs. Schaefer's good food. Mike Doherty has completed his sophomore year at Marquette university and returned JUDY ANN KOLLENKARK BETROTHAL TOLD -- Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kollenkark of 2516 W. Ringwood road, McHenry, announce the engagement of their daughter, Judy Ann, to Richard D. Tomlinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Tomlinson of 805 Columbus, McHenry. Both young people are 1968 graduates of McHenry high school. Judy recently graduated from the McHenry School of Beauty Culture. Richard has attended Western Illinois university and is now locally employed. No definite wedding date has been set. to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Doherty, to spend the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Barbian returned last week from Florida where they spent six months at their winter home in Dunedin. Mrs. Raymond Whiting re- Francis Gende Claims Bride In Stockton A lovely wedding was solemnized in Hoiy Cross church, Stockton, 111., on Saturday, May 17, by Rev. Clarence Thennes when he united in marriage Miss Juliette Parker and Mr. Francis Gende, Jr. Miss Parker is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Parker of 354 Lincoln avenue, Woodstock. Mr. Gende, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Gende, Sr., of McHenry is the nephew of Fr. Thennes. Miss Mary Sue Parker acted as maid of honor for her sister. David Gende attended his brother as best man. A reception for the families was held at the rectory of Holy Cross church following the marriage ceremony. After a trip into Wisconsin, the couple will make their home in Johnsburg. Hie new Mrs. Gende is a service representative for Illinois Bell Telephone Co., in McHenry. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Davis, their guests, Mr. and Mrs. William Arnett and baby, the Joe Eisele family and Rita Ulrich attended a family get-together at the George Anderson home in Rockford Sunday honoring the Arnetts who are visiting here from Portland, Ore. Mr. and Mrs. Vern McClellan were here Tuesday from Monttague, Mich., for a visit with her sister, Mrs. Agnes Wissell. BPW Club Hears Talks The McHenry Business and Professional Women's club met Monday night at the McHenry bank for the monthly meeting. Guest speakers were Mrs. Edveta Wolf and Mrs. Margaret Doak from the LaGrange Park B.P.W. club. Their talks were most enlightening and enjoyed by all members present. The next monthly meeting will be June 16, which will be a dinner meeting. More information will follow. May Devotions To Precede St. Agatha Meeting May devotions in St. John's church May 27 at 7:30 will precede the regular business meeting of St. Agatha Court 777, National Catholic Society of Foresters at Johnsburg. St. Agatha Junior court members will form the Living Rosary and the girls from the eighth grade graduating class will be the court for the Crowning of Mary. Benediction will follow. Mrs. Gene Hughes will be in charge of the committee for the social hour after the meeting, which will be at the Community club hall. Other committee members are Mrs. Joe. E. Freund, Mrs. Ray Thelen, Mrs. John Huff, Mrs. Thomas Huemann, Mrs. Carl Neiss, Mrs. Ernest Papecek and Mrs. Francis Schmitt. MAY 23, 1969- PLAINDEALER- PG. 3 White (Sprite) were also helping out. The bus arrived at Zion Lutheran church at 5:30 p.m. We had to eat dinner on the bus so each girl brought her own sack lunch. Sometime between 9 and 9:30 we arrived at the ranch and were assigned to five different cabins. During the weekend we went on a hay ride to the lake and back, went swimming, horseback riding, had a western barbecue and ate breakfast on a trail. For beginners, there were horseback riding lessons in the corral. On Friday and Saturday nights they had square dancing for everyone. If we wanted to do something else we could play ping-pong, tennis, badminton, archery, shuffleboard and volleyball. At 2 p.m. on Sunday, we all got on the bus and started for home. We really didn't want to leave, but all fun must end sometime,, Scout Reporter. TROOP 41 Recently, Troop 41 of McHenry and Troop 297 of Lake Zurich went to Woodside Ranch in Mauston, Wis., fpr the weekend. There were a total of thirty-six girls plus five chaperones.
