PG. 10 - PLAINDEA'.ER*- FRI. JUNE 6/ 1969 troops «s and 436. LAKELAND PARK NEWS Carole llumann 885-1605 HUM ANNS RETURN FROM PLEASANT FISHING TRIP Here we are again after a two week delay. The Humann family packed their duds and some' fishing equipment and took off for a ^rand vacation in the North Woods of W'iscon^iji. We stayed with Buck and Molly Burger and Had a great time. Lots of big crappies were caught by the fishing members of the family and for the non-fishermen, the weather cooperated although it was a bit on the chilly side. Ohly had rain on one day which from the sounds of the tales we've heard is completely opposite from what happened here. At least our grass didn't grow over the roof top. Very nice to be home again although vacation non-routine is much more fun. SCHOOL OUT School will be out next week and so the subdivision will be loaded with children riding bikes and chasing balls and forgetting that roads are for cars. PARTICIPATE IN PARADE • The Memorial Day parade and ceremonies were very impressive as always. Many children from Lakeland Park marched in the parade to honor the servicemen of past wars and present conflicts. Brownie Troop 464, (jirl Seoul Troop 320 and many of the Boy Scouts marched as well as members oftheMcflenry Last and West campus bands and the Viscounts. It seems that the list of servicemen who have died during the previous year gets longer each Memorial Day. RKlTRMNG TO VIETNAM Dave Druml is presently at Camp Pendleton in California where he is re-training before returning to Vietnam for a second tour of duty there with the Marine Corps. Donna and the three children are staying for the present time with her folks in Johnsburg. STROLLING THROUGH THE PARK Tracy Lynn Pretzman cei-. ebrated her first birthday recently with the help of a whole houseful of guests. Cake and ice cream and other assorted goodies were served to the partygoers. The name of the game these days is -'Who has the mumps?" The present list includes Christopher Creutz, Kim Cynowa, Barbie llumann and a lot of others who are in various stages of getting rid of them. Getwell to all the mumpers. There will be lots of graduates during the coming weeks. Won't you call wi th some graduation news? Little League games are the big item around the younger set these days. News of them will be included in the column just as soon as we gel some. The phone number is at the head of the column and as school will be out next week, I'll also be out of a job temporarily and able to get out a bigger column. Providing there is some news to print, that is. Won't you please help? ANNIVERSARY WALTZ The biggest wishes of all are sent to Decatur to Rose and Ed Oswald who celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on May 24. A Mass was said in their honor at St. Nicholas church in Evanston where they were joined as man and wife on May 24, 1919. They were visitors at the home of their daughter, Kay Druml, on their very special day. Aggie and Joe Prazak celebrated their twenty-third wedding anniversary on June 1 and so did Alice and Jerry Sullivan, same date and year. Grace and Rocky Campo celebrate the coming of age of their marriage on June 5 when they will have been wed for twenty-one years. », Congratulations to all the June babies on their special days. June 1 the big day for George Latter who was seven, for Bob Rode, Julie Perry and for Marie Matchen. Judy Johnson was ten years old on June 3. The page from the birthday book with dates for the seventh through eighteenth is missing and we could use some filling in. Anyway it was good try. Happy birthday all anonymous June babies. 4-H NEWS The Lakeland Merry-Makers 4-H Club held their meeting on May 12 at the community house. The pledges were led by Randy Johnson. This verse from Isaiah is part of Sunday's Christian Science Bible Lesson-Sermon on "God the Only Cause and Creator." A, correlative passage from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy states: "This scientific sense of being, forsaking matter for Spirit, by no meians suggests man's absorption into Deity and the loss of his identity, but confers upon man enlarged individuality, a wider sphere of thought and action, a more expansive love, a higher and more permanent peace." All are welcome at Christian Science society,' Lincoln road and Eastwood lane. Services begin at 10:30 a.m. ADD COMPUTER PROGRAMMNG AT COLLEGE A new non-credit course has been added to the summer program at Mcllenry County college. The course is titled Practice in Computer Programming. This course will allow those with some background in COBOL to extend their experience. In addition, those with no programming experience will find this a useful introductory course in ^programming. " Classes will meet'on Tuesday evenings for eight weeks, with the first class scheduled to meet on June 17. Instructor Ray Zwierzycki also suggests that experienced programmers in this area would find this an easy way to get some experience on the new NCR--Century 100 computer system. Registration is now in progress at the college campus in Crystal Lake. Further information about this and other courses may be obtained by calling the college. But tomorrow people wilflive in it, and it will become a home. Within its walls, the pattern of life will be carried out. But will this be enough? As a home, will this house stand or fall as the years pass? Will the people who live in it develop Jnto better, stronger human beings? Or will they acquire selfishness, greed, indifference, conceit? Remember the foolish man who built his house on sand, only to have the rains wash it away, and the wise man who built his house permanently on a rock? The future of this house -- the future of a home -- depends upon its foundation. In the story, the "rock" symbolizes the Church. Those who build their faith upon its foundation will take into their homes the strength to keep then* f^^gafdless of what life may. bring. | CopyngHt IS6P K?i»r Aavertump Senfice, inc. 5fnubitr£, V CHAIN OTJUOBS EVANGELICAL COVENANT CHUBCH 4815 N WUmot Road Rev Clarence E.
