He was a well known auctioneer and has presided at many an auction sale in this vicinity where he was well known. At the nine (/clock Mass St. Phil- omena's choir from Chicago will sing High Mass under the direction of 1 Mr. Charles F. Pick with Sister M. Stanislaus at the organ. This choir of for­ ty voices bears a most en­ viable reputation as one of the best in Chicago. Frederick Silas Rich. 70 years old, died at his home at McCullom Lake June 18 after being in poor health for more than two years. Miss, Alice Miller ̂ rf this city was united in marriage to Dr. Charles Leppert of West Vir­ ginia at the home of the bride's mother, June 23. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Hoover. Dr. and Mrs. Leppert will make their home at Pittsburgh, Pa. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Miller of Spring Grove was saddened Fridsy when death came to claim their second son, Forest, only four years old. His death came asagreatshock as he was sick just a few hours. Misses Olive andCallaVasey and Christine Adams were Chi­ cago visitors on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. John Unti and family moved last week to High­ land Park where the former is conducting an ice cream store. Members of the foreman's association of the watch factory at Elgin enjoyed their semi­ annual outing Saturday and were the guests of C.M. Buel at his summer home on Pistakee Bay near McHenry. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of June 29, 1944) First of the three casualties recorded in the past week was that of Lieut. MelvinGladstone, son of the Maurice Gladstones. Not only his family but the en­ tire community heard of the new addition to the "missing** list with sorrow. George Kellen,' 1£, of Chi­ cago was drowned on Monday of this week in the Fox River between Pistakee and Nipper- sink lakes. He and his brother were swimming when the youth sank beneath the surface. Geor­ ge's body was recovered a short time later and efforts were made by the McHenry and Fox Lake fire departments to revive him. Efforts were futile how­ ever. A daughter, Linda Carol, was born at Stv Theresa hospital, Waukegan, June 28, to Mr. and l TUES.
