The "dual" Sunday School and worship program at the First Baptist church is being discussed by Youth Superintendent C. Edward Erb, Jr., Baptist Church K. Inaugurates l^lew DuaN Program Sunday morning marked the beginning of a new "dual" Sun day School and worship program at the First Baptist church. The plan is a new concept among Baptists to meet the increasing demands for more and larger buildings. Several churches throughout the nation have been doing pioneer work in the "dual" program. "What actually happens is that two Sunday schools and two worship services are conducted in the same facilities on Sun day morning", explained Tom Jackson, secretary and building chairman for the church. The program began with a Bible stu dy at 8:30 a.m. and those in this study participated in worship beginning at 9:35. While this worship service was in session, a second Sunday school began at 9:45 a.m. The persons par ticipating in this study pro gram then joined in worship at 10:50 a.m. "We're very optimistic con cerning adult participation in theOnew program", was the comment of John Muncy, newly selected superintendent of one of the adult departments. "We believe that many adults will appreciate the earlier schedule for the summer and will per haps continue with it into the fall", "Though the church will probably not need the added space which the *nlw program will provide this summer, Ed ward Erb c|bserved, ,"we will be ready for the usual increase A reception for 200 guests was held in Loras Hall at St. Thomas church, Crystal Lake. After a wedding trip to Den- veT, Colo,, the young couple will live in Huntley. The bride graduated from Marian Central Catholic high school ifi 1967 and is employed as a secretary at Oak Mfg Co., Crystal Lake. The groom, a 1964 graduate of McHenry high school, furthered his education through Naval training and is employed at Commonwealth Ed ison, Crystal Lake. Adult Superintendent Jackson, secretary. John Muncy and Tom in attendance as summer comes to an end; also, our youth de partments will be able to meet in the church building again". It was necessary some time ago for the youth departments to be gin meeting in the Junior high building. Each Bible study service will have a full graded program. There will be classes for the entire family in each session from the youngest baby to the oldest adult. The family is en couraged to attend Bible study and worship as a unit. "Using this approach, we an ticipate almost doubling our po tential on a Sunday morning", said the Rev. V. Chappell, pas tor of the church. "The enroll ment in the regular Bible study program at the church is now nearing 500. We should be able to adequately provide for an enrollment of 700 to 800 without the expense of a new building program", concluded the pas tor. "This is simply a wise and economical approach to the use of the church's finances". Open House For Local Couple The children of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Jacobs will honor the sil ver wedding anniversary of their parents by holding open house at their home, 3619JUng- wood road, Wonder Lake, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 13.
