"Y" Men's Club Members Host Soichi Mo^i SOICHI MORI Members and wives of Lake Region YMCA Vs Men's club were treated to a very special experience last week when a buffet dinner was held at the Harry Braun residence on Rawson Bridge road in Cary for Soichi Mori of Yokohama, Japan. Mr. Mori is a delegate to the International Association of Y's Men's club convention being held in Pittsburg, Pa. His itinerary includes a forty- day tour of the United States and Canada. Except for the con­ vention, Mr. Mori will be stay­ ing in the homes of Y's Men's club families, where he will have an opportunity to exper­ ience American daily life as it is lived and where his Amer­ ican hosts will be allowed to view Japan through a native's eyes. The Lake Region Y's Men received a token of brotherhood and appreciation from the Yoko­ hama club in the form erf mi- iature banner of the Japan club. An invitation was also extended to club members and their fam­ ilies to attend the Internal tonal Y's Men's convention in 1975 in Japan. ^ An entertaining and relaxed person, Mr. Mori pleased his audiences with remarks about his family, a boy, age 6, and a daughter, age 4, and his wife, and their envolvmerrt with the YMCA movement. VISIT CALIFORNIA Mr. and Mrs. John Reed en^ joyed a recent trip to Lake Tahoe, Calif., to visit their son, Mike, and to become ac­ quainted with their new grand­ son^ who was welcomed home by four sisters. During their stay, they visited several night­ spots, including a performance of the Weik show at a well known club, Mr. Reed was raised in the same community of North Dakota as Lawrence Welk, which made the concert particularly enjoyable. The" beauties-blondes, bru­ nettes, brownettes and one red­ head-appeared before the jud­ ges with apparent calm and ease, presenting the trio of jud­ ges with a pretty problem which must be solved at the finals on Thursday night, July 31. Hie McHenry County Fair grandstand will be the stage for the finals as it has been for the past twenty years, the Miss McHenry County Pageait will be the opening night attraction. Looking ahead to the next two weeks, the candidates will make several radio and television ap­ pearances. They participated in the V-J Day parade last week­ end and will be at the McHen­ ry Marine Festival this week­ end. They meet for final rehear­ sal on July 30, and then gather at the Farm Bureau building on July 31 to prepare for their grand entrance to the fair­ grounds at 8 p.m. on the eve­ ning of the contest. Mrs. Jane Neubauer, WREX- TV personality, was mistress of ceremonies for the prelimin­ aries. Orion Samite Is on, WGN- TV and WGN radio farm di­ rector, will handle similar du­ ties at the finals. A fashion show will be one of the added attractions for the grandstand audience. A bride's dress wilt be one of the fashion highlights. Sponsors were represented at the preliminaries along with members of the press, fair of­ ficials and committee mem­ bers. Mrs. Lyle Kleckner is contest chairman.
