PLA'INDEALER PHOTO New Teachers Welcomed To City School St. Mary's Home and School association began the school year with a "Meet and Greet" social last Monday evening. Parents were introduced to the school staff by Sister La­ clare, principal. New teachers to the faculty are Miss Regina Carlos, fourth grade, and Miss Connie Victoria, third gVade. Returning faculty members are Mrs. Jack Schadt, Mrs. Jack Boone, Mrs. Michael Irwin, Sis­ ter Corinne, Mrs. John Kiggins, Sister Nancy, Mrs. Ernest Use- man, Sister Alcuin, Mrs. Leo Wines, Sister Vera Marie, Mrs. Robert Bird, Sister Andreella, and Sister Adria. The 1969 varsity squad pre­ sented Coach Jim Doran with a token of appreciation for sev­ enteen years of coaching at St. Mary's. Also introduced was Mike Dreher, the new coach. George Thompson expressed thanks to the retiring officers for a job very well done. Society NEWS Parish Picnic Planned Sunday At VFW Park St. Patrick's parish picnic will be held Sunday, Sept. 14, at the V.F.W. park starting at noon with a field Mass. Games for young and old will follow, Each family attending is asked to bring their own food for the picnic. Refresh­ ments will be sold, but each child will receive two free tick­ ets for cold drinks. Coffee will be served free. All adults are asked to reg­ ister at the picnic, which is sponsored by the Holy Name society, Altar and Rosary so­ dality and Home and School association. Parishioners are urged to attend. f Johnsburg PTA To Hold Open House On Tuesday The first meeting of the school year for the Johnsburg PTA will be held Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Johnsburg elementary school. This will be an open house. PTA President Bill Neumann will call the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in the multi-purpose room. Other officers presiding will be vice-president, Frank Leon; secretary, Arlene Ca- hill; and treasurer, Ann Selof. After a short business meet­ ing the faculty of the elemen­ tary school will be introduced by Supt. James Bush, with a short resume about each tea­ cher. Duane Andreas will then introduce the faculty of the Jun­ ior high school, giving their educational background. Refreshments will be served, with the teachers seated in grade groups so that the par­ ents may meet and become ac­ quainted with their children's teachers. Enrollment of new members also will be held this evening. We are striving for 100 per cent membership this year, so we are urging all par­ ents and teachers of our dis- rlct to attend this meeting and to Join the PTA. Miss Johnson Engaged To Wed Mr. and Mrs. Leonard John­ son of 4112 Crystal Lake road, McHenry, announce the engage­ ment and approaching marriage of their daughter, Lynnette Rumell, to Edward Souvigny, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Souvigny of Ingleside. An Oct. 25 wedding date has been set. Friends Honor Etheh Jones On Birthday Miss Ethel Jones was guest of honor at two birthday parties last Saturday, Sept. 6. Several ladies gathered at her home on Mill street in the af­ ternoon, where visiting was en­ joyed and birthday cake served. In the evening, other friends paid tribute to this popular lady. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Kiehl showed movies of their trip through Europe, after which birthday cake and refreshments were enjoyed. PG. 2 - PLAINDEALER FRI. SEPT. 12, 1969 MR. AND MRS. WALTER F. Meyers of McHenry on Aug. 30 at a nuptial Mass at St. Mark's church in Winchester. A reception followed at the Am- vets hall in Jacksonville. Hula History Featured On Club Program The fall luncheon of the Mc­ Henry Woman's club will be held at the Country Squire on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at noon. JOHN DOLAN Ann Pliner Wed Saturday Lovely .Ann Valen Pliner ex­ changed wedding vows with Mr. John Ronald Dolan on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 6, at 3 o'clock in the Wonder Lake Bible church with Pastor Richard Wright of­ ficiating at the ceremony. The church was decorated with yel­ low, tangerine and bronze flow­ ers. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pliner of Wonder Lake and her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dolan of 2516 Golfview drive, Joliet. Miss Pliner chose an ivory satin gown with jeweled neck­ line and hem and a floor length veil. Mary Pliner was maid of hon­ or for her sister and Karen Fuller of Steger, Gail Lopatka, Elmhurst, and Donna Dolan of Joliet were bridesmaids. They wore brown dotted swiss floor length gowns and carried bas­ kets of yellow, tangerine and bronze flowers. Acting as best man was Larry Johnson, Plainfield. Ray Pow­ ers, Joliet, and Tom Gramkow, Moline, were groomsmen while Bob Zimmer, Plainfield, Dick Roats, Aurora, and Neil Crow­ ley, New York, ushered. A reception for 125 guests was held at Hunter Country club, Richmond. John Colomer Baby Baptized Kristin Anita was the name chosen for the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Colomer of Antioch when she was bap­ tized Sunday, Sept. 7, at St. John the Baptist church by Rev. John Dording. Sponsors for the baby were Harold Bell and Pen­ ny Owens, both of McHenry. Dinner was served to the god­ parents after the ceremony at the Colomer home. Later rel­ atives and friends gathered for cake and coffee. Mrs. Colomer is the former Patti Bolton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bolton.
