LANGDON STUDIO PHOTO Pianist To Perform On Recital Series Dr. Marie Ann Vos, assis­ tant professor of Humanities at McHenry County college, has announced that the performer in the second of the series of recitals to be sponsored by the college during 1969-70 will be Mrs. Gil Buchanan Delerrte, pi­ anist. Mrs. Delente is assistant professor of music at Web­ ster college in St. Louis, as well as professor of private piano and recitalist. The hold­ er of the Bachelor of Music degree from Tulsa university and both Master's and Ph. D. degrees in music from Wash­ ington university, St. Louis, Mrs. Delente lias presented concerts in France and through­ out the midwest United States. She has been awarded some of the highest accolades available in her field in the forms of a Fulbright grant to Paris in 1959-60, the Licence de con­ cert from Ecole Normale de Musique, Paris, France, 1961, and a gold medal as finalist at the Viotti International Pi­ ano competition, Italy, in 1965. In 1967, Mrs. Delente was the winner of the St. Louis Phil­ harmonic auditions and the win­ ner of the St. Louis Artist Presentation auditions. Mrs. Delente has studied at the Sorbonne (Institut de Mus- icologie) in Paris, and at the University of Caen. Her prin­ cipal teacher has been Jules m&m t FRI. SEPT. 26, 1969 - PLAINDEALER - PG. 3 Loco I Court Hosts Day Of Recollection The annual Day of Recollec­ tion for the Rockford diocese, N.C.S.F. will be held on Wed­ nesday, Oct. 8, at St. Mary's church, McHenry. This is open to all interested ladies. Registration will be at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11 a.m. offered for our deceased members. Rev. Constantino will con­ duct the sermon. A noon luncheon will be ser­ ved in St. Mary's school hall. St. Mary's Court, No. 659, will be hostess court. BURLINGHAM ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT -- Mrs. M. Baldwin of Kenosha, Wis., announces the engagement of her daughter, Nancy A. Burlingham, to Timothy P. Koleno of McHenry. Miss Burlingham has been employed at Downey Veterans hospital for the past four years. Her fiance, the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Koleno, Sr., 3501 W. Beach drive, McHenry, is a 1967 graduate of McHenry high school and has completed two years at Elgin Community college. He recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy and will start his boot training Oct. 13. A June, 1970, wedding is planned at St. Mary's church, McHenry. Hope United Methodist church observed Christian Ed­ ucation Sunday on Sept. 28. The Sunday school participated in the 11 a.m. worship services, when teachers were honored. Refreshments were served af­ ter church by the Senior high class. During the months of Sep­ tember and October, the church will sponsor a series of cot­ tage meetings at the homes of different members. These meetings will be for the pur­ pose of becoming better ac­ quainted with members and friends and also to discuss how the church can better serve in the community. Leaders are looking to these meetings with great anticipation, and hope to achieve a most valuable fel­ lowship together. The Women's Society of Chrisitan Service is holding a workshop at the church ev­ ery Thursday at 10 a.m. They are working on lovely items for the Christmas bazaar. All are welcome and anyone at­ tending should bring a sack lunch. The Commission on Educa­ tion will meet to plan its pro­ gram for the coming months, the most important of these to include UNICEF. The chil­ dren of the Sunday school have collected for this worthwhile cause many times in the past. The cooperation of the com­ munity has been good each year. The UNICEF Collection Day is usually the day before Halloween. IUMYF holds meetings at the church every Wednesday night at 7 p.m. This is a youth fel­ lowship for sixth, seventh and eighth graders. The MYF hold meetings at the church every Tuesday at 7 p.m. They are having a hay ride Friday evening. Those wishing to go should meet at the church at 7 p.m. The WSCS is planning a tour of the Nestle's Chocolate com­ pany in Burlington, Wis., and the Abbey of St. Benedict near Antioch, on Oct. 1. Women are to meet at 9:15 a.m. at Mount Hope. A meal at noon will be served at the Abbey. Call Vir­ ginia Thomas for reservations.
