FELLOWSHIP HELD Zion Lutheran church will join with Ave other area con­ gregations of the Lutheran church, Missouri Synod, in an evangelism training workshop at Zion church, McHenry, on Reformation Sunday afternoon and evening, Oct. 26. Layjnen and their pastors will improve and practice their skills in evangelism, the art of demonstrating in word and deed the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the love of God for men in their modern plight. The chief emphasis will be on in­ dividual and personal witnes­ sing, with additional attention given to congregational involve­ ment in modern problems. The participants in the workshop will canvass several areas of the community during the after­ noon. The ultimate goal of this workshop, one of many being held this fall in the northern Illinois area, is that members of Missouri Synod congrega­ tions might communicate and demonstrate more clearly the relevance of their faith to the lives of modern dwelterfe city and suburbia. Participating from Zion Lu­ theran church congregation will be its pastor, Rev. Herman Graef, Mrs. Dale Koss, secre­ tary for evangelism, youth and adult members. After the work­ shop, all participants from Zion will serve as leaders in de­ veloping and strengthening the evangelism program of the con­ gregation. Well, with the lights going out for 2% hours last Sunday, that's what they had to do. The church fellowship met at the church for a pot-luck supper with plans to enjoy the slides of Helen Wal­ lace's trip to Africa. Only a fair attendance, due to the weather, we hope, showed up for the candlelight supper though. The fellowship plans to hold the showing of the slides of Helen's trip until the next meet­ ing. The aim of the McCullom Lake Conservation club is to maintain and improve McCul­ lom lake, and make the swim­ ming and Ashing better for the enjoyment of residents of the community. The club is now studying a "Spy in The Sky" type of survey of the subdivis­ ions surrounding McCullom lake to ascertain if there are any septic violations which could possibly cause any kind of pollution to the lak& If there should be any such violations, steps will be made immediate­ ly to have the problem recti­ fied. The next meeting of the Mc­ Cullom Lake Conservation club will be on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. at Sven Enarson's, 2411 Beachside drive. At this meeting the results of the soil samples tests taken of the lake will be evaluated and reviewed and a decision relative to soil preparation and build-up will be discussed.
