She left the road to avoid a collision. Soder stated he was passing a truck when a car pulled out of Ringwood road from the north. He said he slowed and failed to see the car coming from the east. Two witnesses verified Miss Bennett's story. 'Snowy conditions caused an accident on McCullom Lake road, in front of Harrison school, at 4:50 Sunday after noon. Hope E. Clark of 3308 W. Elm street, McHenry, was unhurt but a passenger, Barbara Grems, 7519 Center drive, Wonder Lake, was slightly in jured. Miss Clark stated she was driving west when the car started to swerve and then turn ed completely around and came to rest in a ditch, striking a fence. Miss Grems was taken to Memorial hospital, Wood stock. Numerous other accidents caused by slippery roads caused some property damage but no reported injuries. In Spite of the fact that this opera was written for T.V., Menotti himself believes that only the " live" presentation can bring out the true emotion in tended. Eleven-year-old James Har rison plays the title role, with Amy Howell cast as his un derstanding mother. The Three Kings are played by- Rich Wright, Bill Ritthaler and Da vid Winters. Todd Baker is the page, and the entire West cam pus chorus are the shepherds. The production is a combined effort of the music and drama departments. Children of the sixth grades at Valley View school, McHen ry, will present a Christmas music program on Thursday, Dec. 11, at 1:30 p.m. in the school multi-purpose room. The program will be presented to the Parent, Teacher organ ization of Valley View school, directed by Mrs. Dorothy Hol lander. All parents and friends are invited to the program which promises to put everyone in a gay holiday mood. The children will sing tra ditional carols as well as some of the popular songs of the sea son. They will portray a "Child's Christmas Scene," as they sing "My Favorite Things", and "Christmas was Meant for Children". Dolls will come to life with the popular "Are My Ears On Straight"? and carolers from now and long ago will offer such favorites as "O Holy Night", "Noche Buena", "Tell Santy I live in a Shanty", "An*Old Fashioned Christmas", and "The Merry Christmas Waltz". Miss Candella's class will be featured in "A Carol Medley", Mrs. Ludwig's class will sing "Chopsticks Night Before Christmas", featuring an ac companiment on melody bells, and Mr. Anderon's class will present a unique version of "Here We Come A Wassailing". The children will conclude the program with "He is Born", "May There Be Peace on - Earth" aid "Happy New Year". , The program will be pre sented again on Dec. 18 to the entire student body at Valley View. The Harrison school music department will present its an nual Christmas concert this Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. in the school gymnasium. There will be three participating or ganizations. The junior varsity band, numbering fifty-four, will open the program, followed by the forty-seven piece varsity band, both under the direction of Richard E. Mikus. Included in the varsity band's selec tions will be a piano solo, "Dance Of The Sugar Plum Kairy^f played by Mrs. George Brabenc, with band accompan iment. After intermission, the forty- voice varsity choir will pre sent four vocal selections un der the leadership of Mrs. Rich ard E. Mikus. As a grand fin ale, the varsity choir and band will join together with the au-s dience for Christmas carols in the form of the Christmas story.
