Mr. and Mrs. Pawl had a bird dinner with Mr. and Mrs. L. Hill and her daughter.Mrs.Hill is Mrs. Pawl's sister. The rea son the Pawls stopped at Griggsville v\as because of the opening of a world wild life mu seum and art center. The ten ter created by Griggsville Wild Bird Society is the sociey ef fort to awaken Americans to the beauty of our wildlife heritage. Griggsville is noted as The Purple Martin capital of the nation, and is located in Illin ois about 250 miles southeast of Chicago and 100 miles of St. Louis. Here in Whispering Oaks, "Cumberland Circle" has a rock garden, for which the neighbors want to purchase and install a purple martin house. This is the reason the Pawls went to Griggsville to select a bird house. When they ar rived Mr. Wade, took Mr. and Mrs. Pawl to the heart of Ujwn in Griggsville. There they viewed the steeple that con tains about S00 Martins' nests in the middle of the Main street, and then he took them on a three hour private tour through rhe museum. Mr. W ade was for merly a grocer who was so in terested in wild life and pur ple martins that he closed his grocery business and started the (iriggsv^le Wild BIRD So ciety whicfCjjas now become famous. He devoted his old gro cery building as the Art Center. The pictures of wild life on dis play are collector's items and valued at 810,000 and down to 50 dollars and many are not for sale. There are drawings by world famous artists. He has 12 rooms with collections of things from all over the world. a Brass room a Wood room and a China room. Mr. Pawl has ordered cop ies of the Purple Martin Cap ital News, and will distribute them at no charge to neighbors in W hispering Oaks. He is doing thi$ to assist Mr. Wade in his life's work toward stimulating interest in wild life and wild life art. Bird books and pieces will be sold and replaced as time goes by. The weather was fine for the Pawls as they traveled 600 miles, and they enjoyed it very much. Sec. 2 Pg.2 - Plaindealer - Wed.
