"My hope for 1975 is that all segments of our community join hands in the true spirit of this holy season and harmony, cooperation and good will be visible throughout the entire year". Rick Lane pointed to the traffic problem on Rt. 120 as a serious one of which everyone is aware "only because it is the only way through town". Lane believes an additional route is needed and the first step would be completion of a new bridge to accommodate the traffic." "It appears revenue sharing will come to an end in 1976", Lane continued, "and it would be a shame to miss out on federal assistance on a large project of this nature. Hopefully, the new bridge construction can begin before 1976." According to the new president, the Chamber has several objectives in the areas of governmental affairs and community development during the next year. "We are going to attempt to work much closer with the city government and the school districts", Lane asserted. "McHenry is a growing town and it's time to tell our story in detail". The civic leader expressed Search Efforts Fail To Reveal Lake Victim Thursday afternoon about 5:30, deputies were called to investigate a possible drowning at Lily Lake. A resident on North Ridgeway road, Lakemoor, reported that screams for help had been heard from the area of the like. It was feared someone may have fallen throagh the ice. Several units of the sheriff's department were called to the scene, along with the McHenry Fire department, which arrived with a large spotlight to illuminate the area. A search of the lake failed to produce any evidence that anyone had gone through the ice. Several small holes about six inches in diameter were found which were apparently made by ice* fishermen. No fishing gear was found abandoned on the lake and no one was reported missing. The search ended after thorough investigation had been completed. Top photo shows a McHenry Township Fire Protection district truck equipped with spotlight to illuminate the area. In bottom picture is Deputy McFadden checking soft spots in the ice to determine whether or not someone might have fallen through. McHenry Driver Hurt In One-Car Crash Saturday Kelvin W. Schultz of 1800 N. Sunset avenue, McHenry, was the only local motorist injurod in area highway accidents over the past weekend. He was taken his opinion that a profile booklet of the community is needed, to be used as a tool to attract prospective business to the area. "The only way we can progress is to be constantly working for more and better improvements in ourselves and our community", Lane con cluded. to McHenry hospital by the Wonder Lake Rescue squad. The accident occurred on Ridge road, north of Valley Hill road, Saturday at 7:10 p.m. Witnesses traveling behind Schultz said his car suddenly swerved left, then right, went up an embankment and struck a tree.
