St'li'c ti'd By k .in Bible Sex lety It's a marshmallow world--at least, through the eyes of children--a wonderful world of discovery. Each day brings new happiness; exploring exciting sights and sounds. Their trust and belief make every day a fascinating adventure. But what happens when they grow up? The staggering pressures of today's modern world take the beauty and ex citement out of life. Crises, crime and the struggle of earn ing a living all filter out the joy and spotlight the stress. The days are long. But with all its problems, life is still incredibly beautiful. When we forget that it is, we need to be reminded that life has a meaning ... we need to take on the faith of a child. Come to that constant source of inspiration and truth and renew your strength in the Church. Copyright 197*. Keisler Advertising Service. Inc . Slrasburg. Long white worms, 6-14 inches long, lodge in the right chamber of the dog's heart and in adjacent large bloodvessels. Large accumulations of these adult heartworms impair circulation of the blood, which t can result in serious damage to a dog's heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys. A dog can be infected for several years with no outward symptoms. If not detected and controlled, the disease can lead to congestive heart failure and death. Heartworm infection is spread by mosquitoes. Because of this, outside dogs are the most frequent victims of heartworm, but inside dogs are also exposed to mosquitoes, so it is important to have your dog examined by a veterinarian at least once and preferably twice a year, before and after mosquito season. The disease is diagnosed by a blood test at the veterinarian's office. Early diagnosis and treatment is recommended. Although there is no vaccine for heartworm, there are preventative methods used to protect dogs.from this disease. These should be done before mosquito season, since one of the programs is a course of giving your dog a preventative drug on a daily basis from April 1 to Dec. 25. Dogs should be Sla®% Mike Miller, left, of McHenry received top award of a $50 bond fer the best essay entered in the Voice of Democracy competition sp6nsored by the Woodstock Veterans of Foreign Wars. Democracy Contest Won By Mike Miller The Woodstock Veterans of Foreign Wars presented its Voice of Democracy awards at the Woodstock VFW post 5040 meeting this past Saturday night. The Voice of Democracy awards are based of essays on democracy written by high school students. This year's first place award went to Mike Miller of McHenry, a student at Marian Central. Miller received a fifty dollar bond. Second place award went to Kathy Caveny of Algonquin, who is also a student at Marian Jeff Guenther of Woodstock received third place in the contest. Guenther, who was unable to attend, and Miss Caveny each received a $25 bond. Presenting the awards to the high school students was Mrs. Glenna Cross, this year's chairwoman of the Voice of Democracy committee. tested and found free of heartworms before any preventative programs are started because the drugs could be harmful to a dog already infected with heartworm. It would be I THINK ABOUT IT! | BOB JUSTEN1 The Easter story is accepted by Christians as an hist orical story of the resurrection of Christ. We all know it is told in the 28th chapter of Matthew. Apart from the Easter story, the certainty of ressurection of the dead is mentioned in many other chapters of the Bible, in both the Old and New Testament. Here are some of those mentions. In the Old Testament: Job; 14; 13-15...19; 25-27... Isaiah, 26; 19...66; 14...Ezekiel, 37;^-14.,,Daniel, 12; 1-3...And in the New Testament: Matthew 22;23-33... 27; 52-53 - and of course the 28th chapter...Mark 12; 18-27...16; 1-9...Luke, 20; 27-38...24; 1-12...John, 2;18-22...Acts, 23;1-10...24; 15...26; 8... Romans, 4; 17...6;3- i 1...8; 10-11... 1st Corinthians, 6; 14 and the 15th chapters... 2nd Corinthians, 1; 9-10... 4; 14... 1st Thessalonians 4; 13-17... Hebrews, 6;2.. 11;35.. This partial index is published here because we think repeated reading of the assurance of the resurrection of the body can give comfort to many people, many times throughout the year, in between one Easter and the next . . .
