Meeting was opened with a prayer led by Frances Heinemann and all joined in a pledge of allegiance to the flag. President Kay' Smith welcomed members and quests, there were twenty- seven members and eight guests present. She thanked the hostesses for making the arrangements for the dinner. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Treasurer's report was given by Louise Miller in the absence of Treasurer Jean Lay. Corresponding Secretary read thank you notes from Jeanette Helbling and Jean Lay in a c k n o w l e d g e m e n t o f memorials given by the club for Arthur Helbling and Leander Lay. A notification from the American Forestry Association was read concerning a nationwide search for trees to be included in a bicentennial publication "Famous and Historic Trees of the United States." Anyone knowing of an exceptional tree, or one associated with an interesting anecdote, please notify T.W. Curtin, Extension Forester, 211 Mumford Hall, Urbana, 111. 61801. A birthday song was sung for those who had birthdays this month and secret pal gifts were given out All expressed sympathy for the Leander Lay family and bowed their heads in silent prayer. Plans Were completed for the Dist. No. 4 Board Meeting which will be on May 28 star­ ting at 9a.m. in St. Peter's hall. LCWC will host this meeting. Jean Lay and Louise Miller will take reservations. A September card party and luncheon was discussed and committees formed. Volunteers are needed to help on the 1975-76 year book - calendar of events. Certificates of Award were presented by Secretary Eva Freund to all members who had not missed a meeting through the 1974-75 year. She thanked them for their participation and cooperation. Flower baskets for the Spring Grove town square have been donated by the club and President Smith thanked Pauline Horak and Marie Kohl for handling this project. Ap­ preciation for his help and a thank you was mentioned for Frank Heinemann, who painted the baskets and prepared them for hanging. President Kay Smith and Secretary Eva Freund, who were delegates at Illinois State Convention of the Federation of Women's Clubs, gave reports on the convention they attended May 7, 8 and 9. ROUTE 120 MAIL ORDERS FILLED At Bcaber Buick Lake Geneva and the teachers of two sixth grade classes of North school, Crystal Lake accompanied the children on a sightseeing trip of Chicago recently. They visited the Art Institute where they saw examples of impressionist paintings and Dutch paintings. They also visited the section of the museum housing Indian, African and Chinese artifacts. They then proceeded to Adler Planetarium where they saw the annual spring show. Shedd Aquarium was visited next where they viewed many in­ teresting and exciting marine life exhibits. The trip proved to be of great interest to the students and was of tremen­ dous educational value. Offer Advanced Training For Fire Fighters Seven hours of advanced training for fire fighters will be conducted by the University of Illinois at the Fire department in Huntley, June 8, according to Chief W.J. Eckert, director of Firemanship Training, U. of I. U n i v e r s i t y C o n t i n u i n g Education. One seven-hour class is scheduled. Members of fire departments will be admitted. There are no registration nor tuition charges. James Berggren and Dale C. Stout, who have passed ad­ vanced instructors' courses in firemanship training at the U. of I., will be the teachers. Faith Church Opens Summer Schedule Sunday Faith Presbyterian church will begin its summer schedule Sunday, June 1., Corporate worship will begin at 9:30 in­ stead of 10:30 a.m. Church school for nursery and pre­ school age children will also begin at 9:30. Wegner Sunday, June 1, at 12 noon there will be a pot-luck dinner at the Greenwood church in honor of Rev. Ruth Wegner, who will be leaving us on June 8. WELCOME There was a delicious pot- luck luncheon held at the Ringwood Church last Tuesday, May 20 for a good old gab fest with Mrs. Anna Shadle andMercedes Hoffman.Anna is visiting in the area of a couple of weeks and this is one way that she got to see so many more people. Mercedes and Anna had been neighbors here in Ringwood for many years before they both moved away. Mercedes is now back in the area altho it is in Wonder Lake we are glad she is near. Anna will be leaving to go back to California this Thursday so she will be back home by the time you read this. 'Twas so good to see her and get to visit. Anna is still taking pictures of everyone and everything. LADIES "500" CARD CLUB The Ladies "500" Card Club met in the home of Vivian Jackson in Richmond last Wednesday. With all the visiting that went on Mabel Hawley went home with high score and Anna Shadle had low score. Guess Anna did more visiting than playing cards from the sounds of it. Anna was a very active member of this card club before she moved to California years ago. HERE AND THERE Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cristy spent a few days in Waupaca last weekend visiting relatives. Recent visitors with Mrs. Nellie Hepburn were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Soddy of Kenosha and their grandson, Steve Muth; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Laursen of Antioch; Mr. and Mrs. John Blackman of Florida; and Arthur Jensen of Mc Henry. Chris and Rich Gillespie had a yard full of friends and relatives on Monday for a cook- out. 'Twas a beautiful day until the rains came and all scat­ tered for the house. The Walt Lows attended a cook-out in McHenry. Lee and Scott Miller went too. Also there were the Jerry Freunds, the Alby Adams and the John Granaths. All here were under the shelter at the city park but the wind blew so hard it blew completely across the shelter and all got wet. Oh well it cleared up and ended in a beautiful day. Many in the area attended the Memorial Day parade in McHenry on Monday morning and Aunt Nellie rode with the gold star group. BIRTHDAYS Boy, are we getting forgetful, we missed another birthday and we are really sorry. Happy birthday Ricky VanEvery on May 29. Birthdays this next week are few. but they are just as important as any. Happy birthday to Barbara Flynn on May 31, and Wendy Bruce, Larry Lehmkuhl and Blanche Howe on June 3 and on the fourth of June Penny Beck celebrates her special day.
