Although not reaching the .500 mark they had anticipated, there were several outstanding individual and team per­ formances during the season. Centerfielder Lee Frick, Crystal Lake, was named to the Illinois Junior College All State Team and was also named to the Skyway Conference first team. Frick finished the season with a .379 batting average, eleventh best in the State. Steve Himpelmann, a fresh­ man from McHenry, did an outstanding job on the mound late in the season. Steve shut out State Champion Triton College 1-0 and came back a week later to defeat Sauk Valley to win the final game in the Sauk Valley Invitational Tournament. After losing 13 games at the start of the season, the Scots came back to play over .500 baseball the second half of the season. They finished the season by winning the Sauk Valley Invitational Tour­ nament in Sterling, Illinois, behind the pitching of Him­ pelmann, Larry Hirschey, Crystal Lake, and Sophomore Randy McNally, Crystal Lake. With both Himpelmann and Hirschey returning next year coach Gus Williams is very optimistic about the Scots chances next year. Spring Grove Horse Show Coming June 21-22 Horses and riders from miles around will be gathering in Spring Grove on June 21 and 22 for plenty of fun and com­ petition. Members and friends of' the Spring Grove Horse Fair and# Junior Horse Show, Inc. are' working to make this the biggest and best show in the eleven year history of shows in Spring Grove. There promises to be plenty of speed and action in the 200' x 300' arena located behind the Spring Grove Elementary School as well as the grace and elegance of jumping classes. Proceeds from these 2 shows as well as the shows on August 16 and 17 are going toward the purchase of the show property for the community and the school. The Youth Horse and Pony Show on Saturday features 33 events for riders 16 years old and younger, divided into 3 groups so all have a chance to win. The Open All Breeds Show on Sunday gives everyone a chance with 32 events divided into junior for age 16 and under and senior for 17 and over. Both shows begin at 8:30 A.M. and end with the awar­ ding of the high point trophy. There is an entry fee per class with a trophy and 5 ribbons awarded in each class. For lunch or supper there will be refreshments available, ranging from bratwurst to tacos. A live band will perform each night from 7 to 10 for the teens. American Legion Baseball JUNE 9,1975 The McHenry American Legion team traveled to Harvard Monday evening to play their second game. Anyone who appreciates pit­ ching and defense would have certainly enjoyed this game. McHenry Country Club Despite the rain which hit the area last Sunday all semi-final matches of the Director's Tournament were completed and results show that in Flight 1, Gary Adams defeated Ted Spengel and Art Jackson beat Chris Newkirk. Should be a great final match between Gary and Art. In Flight 2 Dick Freund over Jack Smithson and John Steinbach over Hal Nilles. Fred Ballstaedt defeated Rick Smith and Tom Burke beat Ed Schuler in Flight 3, while in Flight 4, Ace Oja beat Sal Lupo and Don Wattles defeated Jim Gillette All final matches will be played at the club on Sunday June 22. Both Dale Urbanski for McHenry and Morris for Harvard were outstanding. Dale, allowing no runs and 3 hits, was aided by alert defense by the McHenry nine.
