10 - t* L/tll^fUCi/lLiLili-ft' lllLfrt JL , JDiii i H : If she has kept up with the course all term, she'll not flunk because of this nap. BUT -- if she is counting on the midnight oil to pull her through the exam . . . Too bad! You've heard of people being converted to Christianity on their deathbed. True! As Christ promised salvation to a penitent thief on the cross, so God's love reaches out even in the final hour to those who call on Him in faith. But don't live your life on the dangerous principle that last-minute cramming will satisfy all your religious needs. There will be millions of adults and children in church next Sunday. They are seeking spirit ual truth, gaining Christian convictions . . . not because they need some religion to die with -- because they need Faith to live by. RTF. 120 McHENRY MARKET PLACE 385-6655 (By Estelle Atwell) 1> .ve conducted a poll on neighbor relations, one of the primary causes of bickering and hostility is found to be the pet - cat or dog. Suppose you moved into a house that had been petless. You have a dog. Next door lives a big dog who up to this time had things pretty much her way. If she wanders over to your newly acquired premises she doesn't know she is doing wrong. You, the newcomer, and your pet are apprehensive about the situation as from the start the big dog asserted herself. If neighbors can get together and work the thing out a cold war can be avoided. If they monitor their dog counsistently, or, when the dog is to be left out alone put it on a long chain run; and if you can keep your venturesome animal from straying where she shouldn't be, there is a truce. But, if all fails, fortunately we have fence companies who build a visible barrier between the two dogs who seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot socially. The fence makes the intruder aware of trespassing, and it makes the newcomer pet confident of her boundaries. Life without fences might be beautiful, but there are times and situations when they become necessary. And there is the cat situation. You are a bird lover. You have feeders and bird baths scat tered around your place and enjoy the activities of bird life. Then you see a well-fed, well- cared for cat belonging to your neighbor sitting near your bird bath eyeing it watchfully. The cat is belled. But, belling a cat doesn't stop its marauding habits. It can sneak quietly to a hiding spot and then pounce. It is as inconsiderate to let your cat roam as it is to let your dog Gene Derdyne, artist and map maker, will address the Northland Area Art league at its June 24 meeting at 8 p.m. in the cafeteria of McHenry high school West campus. Mr. Derdyne's slide presentation explains the concepts behind his three- dimensional aerial perspective maps The only artist in the country to specialize in this type of map, Mr. Derdyne explains, "Other maps ob jectify space, we attempt to humanize it. Our maps are like GENE DERDYNE an aerial photograph, but better because they're readable. -- time and space are compressed to bring them together more clearly." The usefulness of the maps is shown by their widespread acceptance. Having mapped cities across the country and Canada, Derdyne is presently expanding into transit maps where ease of orientation is especially important in assisting people to use public transportation. People in this area may already have used his Chicago map since over a million have been given out by the Chicago Convention bureau. Mr. Derdyne's talk traces the development of this unique skill from his first map of his home town Natchez, Miss., to its present development with side by side comparisons of planographic maps, aerial photos, and his maps. Refreshments will be served. Anyone interested is urged to attend. DIAL-A-DEVOTION PHONE Hear God's Word Wherever You Are. SPONSORED BY: GUETTLER'S SERVICE STATION roam.
