Eight From Area Receive Diplomas at WIU Eight McHenry area people were among the 2,281 students who completed undergraduate and graduate degree requirements during the winter and spring quarters of 1975 at Western Illinois university, Macomb, recently. Mr. Knauss is a magician and ventriloquist and will have his friend "Richard" with him for the program at 7:30 p.m. See you all Saturday night and Sunday at Ringwood church. feRENEMANSSTOP IN TOWN Paul and Althea Walkington were very pleasantly surprised when Bruce and Sue Breneman with their children stopped by last Sunday for a brief visit. Bruce is a former minister of our church in Ringwood and they all send their greetings to their friends. "500" CLUB The "500" club met at the Walkingtons last Saturday night. High scores went to Dan Rawson and Alice Mae Wilcox. The two who didn't do so well were Ruth Rawson and Alvin Benoy. VACATION CHURCH SCHOOL Vacation Church School will be starting Aug. 4 for just one week with sessions meeting for just two hours in the forenoon, 9 to 11 o'clock. We will meet at the Greenwood church this year. Any children from three years old through sixth grade are welcome to join us. If you have any questions, call 728- 0295. Volunteer teachers and helpers are also needed. McLAKE WOOD 4-H CLUB On July 7, Ben Jacobs called the meeting to order at the Aird home in McCullom Lake. There were twenty-four members r present. Roll call was taken and minutes of the last meeting were read by Cindy McDonald. Treasurer's report was given by Peter Bender. We made $95.33 on the paper drive. Committee reports were given by Dave Christopher, softball, 3-1 record; Ben Jacobs, Federation. Dave Christopher told about the campout this Friday night at Harrison Benwell Conservation area. There was no old business. Fair books were handed out and entry blanks turned in. Talks werfTgiven by Robin Moore on her horse and Mandy Aird, "Animal Reactions!" The meeting was adjourned and we all went swimming after which refreshments were served by Mrs. Aird. Reporter Lee Walkington NEW ARRIVAL It's a boy! The new arrival at Frank and Lil Visconti home is a boy born on Saturday, July 12, at 6:27 a.m. He weighed in at 6 lbs., 10 oz., and will answer to Frank Eugene Visconti. Congratulations you two^lueky^ people, 'twill seem funny I bet to know this one you can't send home. Oh well kids it's a good feeling to know that he is all yours. CAMPERS They're nuts! The Walt Lows went camping again this past weekend with the Freunds, Adamses and the Moores and a duck. A duck no less, they must be nuts. Oh well guess a lot of fun was had and jmuch en­ joyment watching the duck and the poodle that was mothering it. Quack, Quack! BIRTHDAYS Happy birthday to Cindy Fleming and Vincent Tonyan on July 19 and to Gary Linstad on July 20. July 25 is the natal day for Marie Eberle, Mike Hogan and Ruth Harrison. The program is sponsored by the Public AffatFs^department of. the General Federation of Women's Clubs and the Department of Mental Health of the State of Illinois. training. He enlisted in the Air Force June 2." Marine Lance Corporal Richard S. Layton of 1201 River road, McHenry, has suc­ cessfully completed the General Education Develop­ ment test at the Naval base, Great Lakes. Successful completion of the test is accepted by the military and many businesses in place of a high school diploma. He joined the Marines in April, 1973. r Whispering Oaks Woman's club Public Affairs Chairman, Mrs. Harold Spruth, and her co- fchairman, Mrs. . Elmer Nauman, together with Mr. Dodd .and Mrs. Rogers of McHenry high school, an­ nounced that two students who will be seniors next year, Mary Morowski and Kim Hegner, were awarded the scholarships to attend the seminar. The McHenry students will bring back information they have gathered and present it at an assembly early next fall. Most secretaries their pay. earn TAX FACTS A Chicago IRS official has announced that some area taxpayers will not be receiving tax rebates. ^ "In order to receive a tax rebate some tax whould have to be paid," said Charles F. Miriani, IRS district director, "If a taxpayer didn't pay any tax, he shouldn'tt>e looking for a rebate." Taxpayers owing tax from earlier years or quarters may not be receiving rebates. ' "The rebate was designed to refund a portion of 1974 in­ dividual income taxes to those individuals not owning taxes," he said. "We've had lots of calls from taxpayers who haven't received rebate checks...and who won't receive them."
