Tickets will be available at the East and West Campus Main Offices after August 15th and the student activity ticket will also be sold at the time of registration. Bill Blankenhorn Athletic Director Farm Bureau Sends Seven Teams To Sterling August 4 Led by its defending state champion Young Adult team, McHenry County Farm Bureau sends seven teams into District I competition on Monday, August 4 at Sterling. The Young Adult team begins defense of its state title at 10:45 a.m. against Jo Daviess county with the winner facing Kendall county for the right to advance to the state Sports Festival finals August 18-19 at Springfield. State finals in all eight classes will be held those two days, along with state championships in swimming, tennis and horseshoes. One new class has been added for this year's softball competition, but McHenry county has no entry. Only two of the 16 counties in District I will vie in the girls' Slow Pitch softball class-DeKalb and Whiteside. The Marathon is a long distance run of approximately eight miles between McHenry and Johnsburg. Last year's contest was an interesting event for spectators as well as participants. An eight mile run is a challenging mixture of speed, strategy, and most of all endurance. A new wrinkle this year which promises to add to the ex­ citement is a category for those who are "over 30". Participants will be able to register in the Pearl Street Park from 6:00 P.M. to 6:25 p.m. The race will begin promptly at 6:30 P.M. A nominal participation fee will be charged to help defray expenses. Trophies and medals will be awarded to the first five finishers in each of these divisions:' 1. Grade School 2. Incoming high school freshmen and sophomores. 3. Incoming high school juniors and seniors. 4. Open division for anyone. 5. 30 years old or older. Runners will be permitted to compete in only 1 division^ Participation ribbons will be given to any boy, girl, man or woman who finishes the race. Even though they will com­ pete separately, all four divisions will run together. Grade school age participants will only run as far as John­ sburg, a distance of ap­ proximately 4 miles. Tran­ sportation will be provided to return them to McHenry. Bill Hutchinson, Cross Country Coach at McHenry High School is managing the event again this year for the City of McHenry. Last year's Marathon was won by Alex Thomas of McHenry in the excellent time of 38 minutes and 7 seconds.
