A special meeting was held recently at the McHenry Legion home for the purpose of a joint installation of the American Legion and auxiliary officers of McHenry County council.The meeting was called to order by Commander Joe Lewis. After the welcoming speech by the commander, the county president, Joann Rezabek, was escorted to the rostrum. She thanked her officers and all chairman for the Units for their cooperation during the past year. The installing officers were < then brought forward. Elaine Murphy, department first vice pres., from Aurora, was in­ stalling officer, Lauretta Homo of McHenry was installing chaplain, Mable Schultz of Huntley was installing sergeant at arms, and May Chesak of Huntley was installing musician. Officers installed were: president - Iolene Biangardi, Fox River Grove; vice- president - Ethel Burow, Hebron; Historian, Ethel Lewis, Marengo; Chaplain, Joann Rezabeck, Crystal Lake' Secretary, Becky Gabel, Fox River Grove; Treasurer - Faye Carlson, Algonquin; sergeant at arms - Marion Karlove, Crystal Lake; assistant sgt. at arms - Winifred Hammond, Fox River Grove. The newly installed president expressed in her talk the honor and obligation of being county president. She introduced her family and many friends present, including Jerreen Merritt, 11th district president, and her husband, Matt of Elmhurst. The president was presented a lovely attache case from her unit, the Frank H. Nagel, Jr. Unit No. 119, and gifts were presented to her officers. Commander Lewis was escorted to the rostrum and the Legion proceeded with its in­ stallation. Eugene Drill Post 606 in Hebron hosted the first meeting of the 1975-76 American Legion's McHenry County council attended by some fifty Legionnaires and guests at the Aug. 28 meeting. Boys State Chairman Ken Kraft reported thirty-one young men from McHenry county were among the 997 who at­ tended the June, 1975, session held again at Eastern Illinois university in Charleston. Department Co-Chaplain Walter Massey, who conducted the non-denominational church services, applauded their at­ tendance at the worship ser­ vices held for all faiths. Bob Garrett, who attended Boys State, in giving his report, highly praised the program and strongly recommended it to all interested high school boys. Eleventh district Com­ mander John Costello, Lake in the Hills, presented 100 per cent awards to Harvard and Rich­ mond post representatives. Costello, who was the 1967 county commander, also an­ nounced that a joint installation of the 11th district and auxiliary will be held at Elmhurst Sept. 20. Herman Hillesheim, county senior vice-commander and membership chairman, reported that 529 membership transmittals were turned in at this meeting and that 331 cards are already reported in at the state Legion headquarters. The next county meeting is at Harvard Sept. 25. Northern State Choral Group In Rehearsals The Northern Illinois Choral association, along with the McHenry County college choir, began rehearsals Monday evening, Sept. 8, for their an­ nual Christmas program. The rehearsals are held in the music room of Lundahl Junior high school, Nash road (off McHenry avenue), Crystal Lake. The concert, to be given Dec. 7, will be the twelfth annual Christmas concert to be per­ formed by the choral association and will again be under the direction of Ms. Margaret M. Griffith, chair­ man of the McHenry County College Music department. The Christmas concert in December will center around two major compositions, the "Christmas Oratorio" by J.S. Lake and Harvard. Final league standings were an­ nounced with Crystal Lake, first place; Harvard, second; Woodstock finished in third place; Lake in the Hills and McHenry tied for fourth; Marengo was sixth and Algonquin finished seventh in the standings. Americanism Chairman Bob Schultz urged post chairmen to begin now in getting the high school oratorical contests lined up so that a McHenry county contest can be conducted. AND THERE IN BUSINESS McHenry Man Contracts For Sale Of Invention Ray Wisniewski of McHenry has successfully contracted with Allied Research Inc., Melrose Park, to have a yet- unpatented invention perfected and sold to industry. His invention was first evaluated by Allied, then ac­ cepted for having good com­ mercial possibilities. Currently there are negotiations with manufac­ turers to have Wisniewski's invention produced and distributed:"! Open House At McHenry FS McHenry FS plans an open house Sunday afternoon, Sept. 14, for the public to inspect its new office headquarters at McConnell road and Route 47. The building, which has several maintenance-saving features as part of its con­ struction, will be open from 1 to Bach, a serene and beatific composition announcing the birth of Christ, and Ralph Vaughan Williams "Fantasia on Christmas Carols", for solo voices, chorus and orchestra. 4 p.m. As an added feature, McHenry FS personnel plan to line up a variety of the rolling stock needed to distribute the farm products it sells to farms so that distribution and use can be expedited.
