It is having relatives and those close to your heart share the day. ft is having grandchildren coine through your door shputing Happy Birthday! And, those grandchildren worrying about how Grandma could find enough room on the cake for all the candles it would take to cover Grandpa's age. It is a call from your niece, Kathy Blake Orttel, whose birthday also comes in November (as does grand daughter Aleen's) with the comment: "November is an important month. That's why they have it come before December." It is a day when we used to send flowers to our mother on our birthday and some people thought that was a funny twist. We print some enough to let you know that programs of a wide variety are available to all ages and to those with physical handicaps. Coach "Hutch" sent a very complete and interesting booklet on the Cross Country achievements at McHenry High. They set high goals and participants put every ounce of strength, fortitude and energy into the sport. The great record at our school is not just an accident. Thanksgiving Day is just around the corner. Perhaps the anticipation of turkey and all the trimmings is uppermost in our minds. Perhaps we forget that the day was set aside when Pilgrims settled in this country and took time to count their blessings. It is a day when we worry about those less fortunate who may be hungry and cold. It is a day to realize that Home Sweet Home is your castle and recall the famous Edgar Guest poem "It takes a heap o'living in a house to make it home".
