Will other benefits continue after you retire, such as health insurance for you and your spouse0 As the time for your retirement draws nearer, you will want to consider some other factors --How much income can you expect to receive from all sources after retiring, includ ing Social Security, veterans' benefits, private pension plan payments, income from your savings, stocks and other invest ments. rents and the like" --How much money do you think you will need to live on comfortably -after you've re tired--allowing for the effect of inflation on your future costs9 The important thing is to assess your retirement needs carefully In a short time, many Americans will be working longer Some states already have passed laws prohibiting man datory retirement at 65. or at a later age. so long as the employee iS capable of doing his job On the national level, the mandatory retirement age will be extended, perhaps eliminated completely If you're nearing retirement, keep informed, as to what is going on--in your state, with your company, and on the national level • • • •• Charity is a great vir tue but it's seldom seen in economic activities. No definite wedding date has been set. a. -- Ancient Gourmet Cooking Rediscovered Clay pot cooking can be traced back thousands of years. Earthenware pots were used by primitive man. They were put in glowing ashes of an open fire to improve the taste of the food. The Romans who were great gourmets, used pots made of special earthenware to cook delicious meals. Today, this ancient style Roman pot has been rediscovered. It is simple to use and permits you to prepare healthy, slim ming dishes--no fat Q:r ,01 need be added--that retain all the Vitamins and nutrieifts, yet have a marvelous taste. Here' is one typical recipe that can be prepared quickly and easily since clay bakers can be left unattended in the oven until the dish is done: CHICKEN IN BURGUNDY ROMERTOPF 2 chickens 1 small can mushrooms 1 cup burgundy wine 1 small glass brandy thyme 2 oz. smoked bacon (optional^ 1 onion lemon juice tarragon 2 oz. butter (optional) 2 tbsp. parsley 1 bay leaf nutmeg salt, pepper Soak your unglazed clay baker in water for 10 to 15 minutes. Wash the chickens, then rub with salt, pepper and a little lemon juice. Put them into the clay baker and cover with slices of bacon (omit if you wish). Pour the burgundy over the chickens, then add seasonings. Place the covered clay baker in the center of a cold oven and set temperature for 475 CF. Cook for an hour, then pour off the sauce carefully. Strain the liquid through a sieve, add the mushrooms and butter (if you. wish) and thicken with flour. Then add the brandy. Serves Six. A free illustrated booklet of recipes and information about cooking in clay can be obtained by sending a stamped (13t), long (at least 9lA*4% inches), self-addressed envelope to Reco International Corp., P.O.
