U A rockin' away, here in me late years, wi'out th' worries o' a family o' tykes t' rear, in these perplexin' times, me mind goes f th' parents, who make a career out o' bein' parents, good ol' fashioned kind o' parents. Like th' bad apple that'll spoil aswhole barrel of em, it ain't easy t' keep th' younguns from a gettin' spoiled idees, havin't' be associated wi' some, who don't have th' same kind o' parents, who care. Me heart goes out t' th' many mothers an' fathers, who stick t their idees, an' do their level best f offset th' influences which affect society in detrimental ways, these days. Wi' permissiveness in ever'thin' th' order o' th' day, th job o' parenthood takes a bit more doin' than when things were better controlled. It's natural f'r th' young, t' resent parental pressures, an' try their skills t"at o'ercomin' restrictions, but th' keyword is love A youngun brought up in a home, where love pervails, '11 be affected wi' that influence, throughout a lifetime. Youngsters, brought up wi' regard f'r family, wi' real, honest t' goodness love f'r one another, seldom go wrong. Regard f'r th' opinion o' th' other members, seems t' be th' guideline, in most closely knit families. Teachin' th' younguns t' love each other, sets th' at titude toward others, when it comes time t' leave th' nest, an' encounter th' outside world. Somethin' has gone wrong wi' so many younguns, these days, an' this granny feels that it all harks back t' th' home en vironment P'haps th' parents leave th' childern alone, too much, t' fend f'r 'emselves. Life gep borin' t' some young folks, especially those who don't read, 'r have some kind o' hobby. In my day, there was so much t' be interested in. We had classes at school, where we learned t' draw, an' paint, an' music lessons were essential. We learned t' sew, an' th' boys learned skills wi' tools, all in elementary school. We weri taught t' be int'rested in things that kept us out o' mischief. Maybe we better get busy an' initiate these int'rests again.
