It will be held through March 22. All residents are invited to view Kevin's art work during college hours. McHenry County college has on exhibit a collection of art work in the form of shadow boxes, by Kevin Click of Crystal Lake Click received an Associate degree from McHenry County c o l l e g e i n 1 9 7 1 a n d a B S E i n Art Education from Northern Illinois university in 1973. Each work is a synthesis of painting and sculpture within the theatrical mode of the shadow-box. Each box represents a combination of two contrary visual techniques. The process involved in creating each work consists of a conscious. structural arrangement of prmarily unconscious. coincidental material Each box represents an assimilation of contrasting methods of perception. The basic theme of each work is expressed through an unity of opposing symbols or ideas. The exhibit is located in the learning Kesources center and the Art wing of the main hall building on campus. It will be held through March 22. All residents of the district are invited to view Kevin M. Techniques Of Training Dogs For The Blind A special program is scheduled following the Christain Mother s meeting Thursday, March 16, 8 p.m. in St. Peter's hall, Spring Grove. Joseph Nessinger and his dog will show the techniques used in training Seeing Eye dogs by actual demonstration and with the aid of a film strip. Ad­ mittance is free, guests and the public are invited. CLUB MEETS Twenty-one members and one guest, Peggy Buesseler, a former member, were present at the Feb. 22 meeting. Clara Jensen said the opening prayer and a lunch was served. Kathy Bonick was installed and welcomed as a new member. Dolores Ellefsen read the correspondence, substituting for Kay Kelly now Mrs. August Verhaeghe. Invitations to Reciprocity Days were received from McHenry Women's club, March 9 at VFW; Woodstock Women's club, March 13, at Grace Lutheran church; Wonder Lake Women's club, March 16, 8 p.m. Nativity Lutheran church; Marengo Women's club, March 17,1 p.m. 675-2135 P r e s b y t e r i a n c h u r c h ; Belvidere Women's club, March 14, 12:30 p.m. A c k n o w l e d g m e n t s w e r e received from the Harriet Olson family for a memorial, from Kay Smith and Esther Rinda for get-well cards and other kindnesses. An invitation to tour Sara Lee plant was received. A newsy card was received from Mr. and Mrs. August Verhaeghe, who are honeymooning in Honolulu. Judy Brewer told of workshops covering child care and a return to college program starting March 11 at McHenry County college. Birthday greetings were extended all those having birth­ days in February. Dolores May was chosen Woman of the Month for February, starting the new year 1978-79. The 1977- 78 woman of the year will be voted on next meeting. A memorial for Beulah Karls was given the family. A history of her twenty-nine years as a member was read. All joined in saying the Lord's prayer. The nominating committee is Dolores Ellefsen, Marge Jung and Mae Gerstung. The next meeting is March 8 and the program is a demonstration of arts and paintings. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Route 120 McHenry, Illinois Jill Schaefer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Schaefer of McHenry, will be featured in the Bicentennial Dance theatre concert Sunday, March 5, at Hemmens auditorium, Elgin. The 3 p.m. concert will include a classical ballet, Undines, a character ballet, Western Vignette, and a jazz suite about New York City. Miss Schaefer, 16, has danced since she was 3 years old, and will perform several demanding roles in this concert. For ticket information, call 455-2055. Tickets will also be on sale the day of the concert at the Hemmens box office. PHOTO-ROBERTA CALIGER Junior High Bands, Choruses In Concert The McHenry Junior high school bands and choruses will present a musical program Tuesday, March 7, at 8 p.m. at the school. There is no ad­ mission charge. Various ensembles and soloists will be presented on the program in addition to the organizations. Following is the tentative program: C a d e t B a n d -- " H o l i d a y Parade" march, "Sherry Lynn" waltz, "Rocky Mountain Rock", "This Old Man". 6th Grade Chorus--"Funiculi. Funicula", "Roll on Colum bia". Concert Band--"Two Moods" overture, "Tropical Twilight", "Symphonette For Band", highlights from "Fiddler On The Roof", "Liberty Fleet" march. 7th And 8th Grade Choruc*- "Brighten My Soul", "All You Need is Love", "Clap Your Hands", "Spread Joy". The concert band's next appearance will be at thev district music band contest at Wauconda Saturday, March 11. Band Day At Marian High Marian Central Catholic high school has announced its second annual Band day Wednesday, March 8. Bands from St. Thomas (Crystal Lake), Ss. Peter & Paul (Cary), Montini (McHenry), and St. Mary's (Woodstock) will be involved in rehearsals starting at 1 p.m. with Fred Lewis from Fenton high school as guest conductor. The guest conductor comes with varied knowledge and experience in the concert band idiom. He has studied at the Vandercook College of Music, the American Conservatory of Music, De Paul university, the University of Mississippi, and the University of Nevada. In addition, he was a student of Emil Ect, flutist, formerly with the Chicago Symphony. Lewis has played professionally with many groups in symphonic as well as jazz groups. The concert will be played at 7:30 in the evening in the gym. Guest speakers for the banquet will be the conductor and Tom Parsley, principal of Marian. After the evening meal all solo and ensembles medals will be awarded to winners from the March 4 contest. The evening concert is open to the public to view parochial band system in performance.
