A free 45-page summary of the proposed plan is available on request. The complete draft plan includes more than 1,000 pages. It is on reserve for public review at 262 municipal offices, at the six county planning offices, and at 75 selectecf libraries. Call NIPC for library locations. The draft Areawide Water Quality Management Plan is a proposal to solve the region's water pollution problems. It describes the ways a multi- billion dollar clean water program can be financed and suggests a management system for accomplishing the task. An adopted regional clean water plan is a requirement for state and federal grants to finance many wastewater treatment system im­ provements and water pollution control projects already planned. In addition to the public hearings, eight public in­ formation meetings have been scheduled to explain the proposed clean watei\plan The following four meetings will be at 1:30 p.m. in the NIPC office, 400 W. Madison St., Chicago: May 30^-Agricultural and septic system pollution control. June 6-Urban stormwater runoff and combined sewer pollution control. June 13--Wastewater treatment plants and other point source pollution control. June 20--Management systems, costs, and financing of water pollution control. May 24,1978) Free Call-Free Training A toll-free telephone number, 800-252-2933, has been established to aid Illinois residents obtain information concerning starting dates, times and locations of free motorcycle safety training courses now being offered by the state Department of Transportation. The course consists of 11 hours of classroom instruction and at least 11 hours of on-bike training. All materials are furnished, including motor­ cycles which are supplied by local motorcycle dealers. Of the degrees awarded, almost _ 700 went to baccalaureate graduates and almost 150 to master's candidates. Regent President Edward E. Suspension Upheld The suspension of the licenses of a Chicago real estate firm and two of its of­ ficers for racial discrimination was upheld last week by the Illinois Appellate court. The licensees had been disciplined by the Illinois Department of Registration and Education for p r a c t i c i n g r a c i a l discrimination in the rental of an apartment. Slate Public Hearings For State Aging Plan The Illinois Department on Aging will hold public hearings at nine locations during June on its fiscal year 1979 State Plan on Aging. According to Director Josephine K. Oblinger, "Input from interested citizens, ser­ vice providers and community agencies is an essential ingredient of the planning process. The proposed state 'plan addresses management objectives important to the Department on Aging's ability to effectively address the needs of older persons in Illinois. "The state plan includes programs funded under Titles III and VII of the Older Americans Act of 1965 as amended. Public hearings are required by federal regulations and the department welcomes testimony from all interested parties." Summaries of the proposed plan are available for review at all public libraries throughout Illinois. Complete copies of the plan are available for review at area agencies on aging and nutrition project offices. Copies of the summary are also available upon request from the Illinois Department on Aging, 421 East Capitol, Springfield, 111., 62706.
