McHenry Couple As Members MARGARET CADOTTE ENGAGED-Mr. and Mrs. George Cadotte of 3202 W. Skyway drive, McHenry, announce the engagement of their daughter, Margaret Cadotte, to Donald Jenkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jenkins of 5511 Lucina, McHenry. The bride-elect is a 1977 graduate of McHenry Community high school and her fiance graduated from the West campus in 1976. Both are employed locally. There were thirty-eight members of the Friendship club in attendance when Frank Pieplow offered grace, at the potluck dinner meeting held recently. The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by vice- president Herbert Rose, who welcomed everyone, including new club members, guests Reba and Harold "Pat" Owen. The meditations, comparing life cycles with the changing seasons of the year were given by Evelyn Smith. The minutes of the previous meeting and the financial report were read; both of which were accepted and approved. Cards were signed by all for Dorothy Steinbiss, Isa Braenne, Helen Creamer. Bill Jordan. Frieda Olsen, Agnes Wissell, and Yvonne Wilson. Notes were read from Dorothy Steinbiss and Mildred Kennedy, who are both home from the hospital and recuperating1. Helen Lundy also acknowledged the cards, prayers and visits received during her recent illness. Vivian Bassett reported on the petition signed at the last meeting, showing that religion and Christianity are still a very important part of the members' lives. The secretary reported she would be making up the new rosters, menu and program charts, and asked for volun­ teers for programs. The new schedules will be completed and in the mails by August. Mae Stinespring had the program for the evening, which was a book review on the romantic life of Carl Sandburg and his wife. Members of the church, 50 years or older are most cor­ dially invited to join the Friendship club. Guests and new members are always welcome. CHICKEN BARBECUE On Father's day, June 18, the Huntley Lions club will hold its annual chicken barbecue at the American Legion club. Serving time is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bert Hanson, executive director of Memorial hospital for McHenry county has an­ nounced prospective mothers and fathers are invited to the two sessions of "Preparation for Parenthood" beginning Monday evening, July 3. Second session will be Monday, July 10. Both classes will start at 8 p.m. and are held in the hospital dining room. "In previous sessions, many fathers-to-be have attended in addition to the prospective mothers. We are very pleased with the interest in this program," Hanson said. The program is presented by Memorial hospital for McHenry county in cooperation with members of the medical staff and the hosptial staff. Each session will include movies and talks, and no charge of any kind is involved. The films are "Prenatal Care" and "Labor and Delivery". A member of the medical staff will lead the discussion on prenatal and on labor and delivery at both the July 3 and 10 sessions. Mrs. Fran Schlopp, R.N., obstetrical supervisor, will take part in the program. Included in the class schedule is a tour of the hospital's maternity depart­ ment. Daughters of Isabella, were present at the May meeting held in St. Joseph's hall, Richmond. Regent Mary Obenauf presided at the meeting and opened with a prayer. Four new members were initiated including Jane Riley, Patricia Wightman, Hazel Thomas and Eva Freund. Margaret Powers, diocesan chairman conducted the ceremony. Letters of appreciation for their help in forming the St. Elizabeth Seton circle were sent to Father Riley, state chaplain; Father Plozeck who gave the benediction; Janet H a g e n , i n t e r n a t i o n a l secretary; Lucy Schell, state regent; and the Dolorado circle of Harvard. Vice Regent Kay Bell spoke of sending get well cards and spiritual bouquets to the sick and relatives of deceased members. It was suggested to have a chairman in each town. There was a discussion on up­ dating book and pamphlet racks and to interchange with other parishes. Money making projects reviewed included bake sale plans starting in June and continuing each month through September. Card parties in the home were recommended. A membership committee was selected, Frances Heinemann, Rose Miller, Jane Riley and Pat Wightman. The time of meetings was changed to 7:30 p.m. and a report on the convention was given by Regent Mary Obenauf. Harlen Clapsaddle officiated at the 2:30 p.m. ceremony at St. Mary's Catholic church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Stoffel of 4014 W. McCullom Lake road, McHenry, and the bridegroom's parents are Mrs. Lorraine Dam row of Norridge, 111. and Robert Olsen of Roselle, 111. The bridal gown of ivory was reminiscent of the past, styled with a high lace collar, illusion bishop sleeves with a wide cuff, and an A line skirt designed with an overlay of net, lace and embroidered pearls over taf­ feta. Ruffled lace accented the hem of the skirt and train. She wore a waltz length manteau headpiece bordered with lace matching the bridal gown. She carried a bouquet of old world shaped ivory roses and stephanotis surrounded by baby's breath and ivory ribbon. Those who have visited the Time Museum know what a fine collection it houses. In fact, it is the only museum of its kind and contains the greatest collection of time keeping pieces anywhere in the world. Mrs. Mastricola's slide program, like the museum, deals with time keeping from the twen­ tieth century B.C. to the twentieth century A.D. Society members, their guests, and the general public are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served following the program, and the museum will be open to the public.
