James Thompson's program to expand benefits of the circuit breaker program for senior citizens has passed the State Senate. The bill increases the income eligibility limit for circuit breaker grants from $10,000 to $12,000, allowing many more elderly and disabled persons to realize tax breaks. The Senate has also approved a $19 million supplemental appropriation bill necessary td fund this year's circuit breaker program. Some 50,000 more persons than expected applied for benefits this year.
