As Region 3 the LM-LEPC joins nineteen other local planning regions in the ILEC network. Region 3 will cover the counties of Lake and McHenry which make up 19th Judicial circuit. With the LM-LEPC designated as a region, there will no longer by the duplication of effort that existed previously between the local commission and the regional council. There will be a single review of grant ap plications by LM-LEPC and then the application will be sent directly to the Illinois Law Enforcement commissions or law Enforcement Assistance administration for the final review. This also means that there will be less ad ministrative paper work on grants since all grant-related correspondence need only go through one agency to get to ILEC. Grant monitoring, progress reports, budget changes, and evaluation reports will be handled through the local agency only. One of the biggest benefits that will result from LM-LEPC becoming a region is that there will be stronger and more meaningful input from local agencies to the state planning agency in regard to needs and priorities.
