The thrill of Drum Corps Magic will come to McHenry again Sunday, July 30, at McCracken field. It will be marked by precision marching and a variety of music per­ formed by eight of the top ranking units throughout the midwest. Competing for the top prize at 6:45 p.m. will be the Cavaliers, Kilties, Guardsmen, Vaccaros, Pioneers, Knights, Fox Valley Raiders and Emerald Knights This promises to be the biggest show ever held in McHenry. Prior to their performance that evening, all of the units will march in the Fiesta days parade beginning at 2 p.m Tickets are now on sale at the Chamber of Commerce office, 4719 W. Route 120. Nancy says "winning the title made a frightening difference in the opportunities 1 have had to fulfill my dreams I always had no idea of how they could come true, but now I'm living in Chicago, modeling, studying acting and voice and discovering many new things that a young woman can do today I've met an astounding number of people in the last year, and they have taught me a great deal about myself and how to utilize my talents " When asked about how it felt to be chosen as Miss Illinois. Nancy replied, "It was very exciting then it was a little frightening I thought about all the responsibilities I would have and all the changes it would make in my life 1 had great questions about i t a t the t ime " Nancy had been in teaching at Western Il l inois university before her big break but her "heart wasn' t in i t and I didn' t know where to turn Then she entered the Miss Macomb Pageant, sponsored by Western Il l inois universi ty and the Macomb Cit izens associat ion, and her dreams took a giant leap closer She sang "Voci di Primavera a classical aria for coloratura sopranto and the world opened up to her Nancy will sing her aria and appear in several of the musical numbers at this year s pageant, in addit ion to the tradit ional crowning of the new Miss Illinois This year's pageant will continue at the Paramount Arts centre. 23 East Galena.
