Second and third place finishers, John Mclnerney and Andy Oakley, both of McHenry (below), are all alone in the open country as the leader is well ahead, and the pack, well behind. Dick Kloepfer (below), cro6S-country coach at Crystal Lake high school, receives a cup of water to help him continue the race. Kloepfer won the men's 40 years and over division with a time of 40 minutes, 39 seconds. He was just 4 minutes off the overall winner's time. The winner of the race (below), Joe Paul, receives an enjoyable washdown following the finish of the marathon. Paul didn't let the heat and humidity get to him as he set a new McHenry Marathon record by covering this. 7-mile course in a time of 36 minutes, 43 seconds.
